Post your re-imagined track listings that would in your opinion improve the albums they're based on. For example, I just came up with this genius abridged version of the two Use Your Illusion albums by Guns N' Roses.
"Double Talkin' Jive"
"You Ain't the First"
"Pretty Tied Up (The Perils of Rock 'n' Roll Decadence)"
"You Could Be Mine"
- Sets the mood perfectly with those heartbeats in "Coma" and continues the feel of stepping into an alien world with "The Garden" without explicitly spelling it out. - "You Could Be Mine" is a teeth-kicking closer that doesn't let you off the hook thematically with a 'happy ending' without being overly daft about it like "My World". - The riff from "Double Talkin' Jive" is used like four times throughout the two albums, let's just have that one song there to alleviate the homogeneity. - "You Ain't the First" and "Dust N' Bones" could potentially be switched, but I prefer the sardonic levity of the former. - I rather like "Don't Cry" but it could have easily just been released as a single; it wouldn't fit thematically into this abridged version (nor does it really fit into Use Your Illusion I).
Equally representing both volumes of Use Your Illusion, I honestly believe this could have been a definitive one-album version of this rather bloated effort. BOOM, fixed your album.
1. I'm Alright (Live) 2. The Last Time (Live) 3. (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction (Live) 4. Route 66 (Live) 5. Get Off Of My Cloud (Live) 6. I'm Moving On (Live)
1. Paint It, Black 2. Under My Thumb 3. Mother's Little Helper 4. 19th Nervous Breakdown 5. Lady Jane 6. Out Of Time
I took the album title literally and turned into some kind of a concept one with what they have had before and what did they become now. Got rid of the "Goin' Home" time killer, the other numbers that didn't make the cut will fill up the following albums instead of the obviously bad ones. Perhaps try to save the 'Their Satanic...' album, too.
Speaking of the Stones, I did an abridged version of A Bigger Bang.
1. Rough Justice 2. Rain Fall Down 3. This Place is Empty 4. Oh No Not You Again 5. Back of My Hand 6. Laugh, I Nearly Died 7. She Saw Me Coming 8. Biggest Mistake 9. Look What the Cat Dragged In 10. Streets of Love 11. Infamy
Removing the absolutely awful "Sweet Neo-Con," the forgettable "Dangerous Beauty," and the good but not great "Let Me Down Slow" and "It Won't Take Long," what you have is a really excellent, straightforward rock and roll album that would've held up strongly against Some Girls and Tattoo You.
