Whether it's the music of Luther Vandross, The Rolling Stones or Sting, chances are you'll have heard Lisa Fischer's voice without even realising. Though she's spent the majority of her career as a backing singer, Lisa is an astonishingly talented vocalist in her own right, and her various live performances over the years showcase her voice as both amazingly flexible and consistent. Her '90s performances in particular showcased her strong upper register, frequently flipping between a beautiful high falsetto and potent fifth octave belting. Even now in her 60s, however, her confidence in her high notes is as strong as ever, though instead she now sings more frequently in her now more confident, smouldering lower register. You may not consider Lisa an immediate choice for a "diva" singer in the same vein as Whitney Houston or Patti LaBelle, but considering her vocal prowess, live consistency and her longevity, she's definitely up there.
{A Few Examples of Her Voice}
Her best known solo song. Belty with lots of transitions to sixth octave falsetto.
You could hardly call her a backing singer with performances like this!
A recent live performance; initially lots of decent low singing, but when she hits the highs, she hits the highs...
