Autotune is just a production technique that's in style at the moment. A lot of singers who use it would probably be able to stay in tune just fine without it. Nas sounds like he's got the fundamentals of singing pretty well nailed. He's not a virtuoso, but I think he's solid enough at what he does.

Range and being the Excellent vocalist aren't things that are necessarily together.
See Marilyn Manson as an example, he has a 4 octave range (B1-B5 if I remember well) but he doesn't have a good technique in terms of singing.
And anyways, Lil Nas X may not be the greatest vocalist but I think he can put up good singing moments.

I’d rather use William Shatner as an example. Full 4 octave range but objectively can’t sing

Well, that really is up for debate, I guess one doesn't build a 25+ years career on poor singing technique, he has definitely not been the most consistent singer, with his up and downs, but I would say he's more than capable.

Obviously, I'm not saying he's a bad singer, just that he doesn't have the best technique to prove that technique and range aren't necessarily together.

Well, one can most certainly have a poor vocal technique and a long career, and also sound excellent at that. Technical singer (or having a vocal technique overall) implies that one is making conscious choices with their vowels, embouchure, vocal tract shaping and what's not to produce a healthy, free and sustainable sound with the timbre they want. It isn't really just 'sounding good' or having 'longevity'. One can have a poor technique and preserve their voice very well. And one can have an incredible technique but their voices will last very short (this usually has to do with vocal overuse and/or poor health).

I like his earlier recordings, such as Old Town Road which gives me Nostalgia from 2019. But his later songs are just plain cringe mostly. And I respectfully disagree that he's not special. I used to listen to a lot more rap than I do now, and I can say as someone who has listened to all kinds of different rappers (and music stars of other genres as well) Lil Nas X is unique to me. But his recent stuff just blows up my brain cells.
