Brent Hinds is the notoriously eccentric lead guitarist for Mastodon as well as being perhaps their most divisive singer. His more nasal approach to singing definitely stands out in the band, but there is no doubt that it has become a distinctive part of their sound and identity. He was also the first of their singers to emphasize very clean melodic singing (beginning with two songs on the Leviathan album) which he expanded upon considerably on the following two albums, demonstrating the ability to deliver some very emotive performances at times in songs such as The Last Baron or Jaguar God.
Props to Seanblasted for coming up with the voice type used in this thread.
