If it's in green, so it's clearly marked as a different technique from his usual highs, I don't see why it shouldn't be counted. He seems to intentionally hit and hold that pitch. The tone is nasty, but that in itself shouldn't disqualify it.

youtu.be/Ftr8XiwJvUE?t=70Found this today, the scream sounds like a C5 in full voice to me but I’m not sure if it’s countable due to the tone of it, or if it’s a C5 at all. Anyone else have an opinion on this? Edit: sorry for the inactivity, I’ve not been able to edit the thread properly because I don’t have my laptop but should be able to get back to work soon. I’ve got a few new notes to add that weren’t even on the original thread as well as the ones that you guys want me to add. Edit 2: sounds like a B4 to me now

There are some serious colouring issues in my opinion.
We shouldn't have these many notes coloured in black in the D5, E5, F#5, F5, etc sections (like we know that Matt's chest voice starts to struggle from A#4. He even ducks some originally modal A4's live and sing them falsettos instead. Example : madness, city of Delusion...)
I think that black should be restricted to modal notes.
- When it's modal + strong/outstanding (A4's and A#4's like madness, big freeze, city of Delusion, Dead inside, handler...), It should be black + bold
- When it's falsetto + strong/outstanding (G5 and G#5 of showbiz, Survival, microcuts... F#5 of plug... E5 of Shrinking universe, D5 of handler...), It should be blue + bold
It's only my humble suggestion and you can ignore it of course. But I think it that would be in harmony and fair with all the other singers' threads.

This site moved away from trying to colour modal/full voiced notes separately some time ago as a way of trying to go by sound rather than any notions that we have about what's going on inside someone's throat. But in Matt's case I'd be inclined to agree because 99 times out of a hundred, the register is super obvious. He doesn't really dabble I'm masked head voice or mixing aside from maybe a handful of times in his whole career. It's just chest or falsetto

But I think it that would be in harmony and fair with all the other singers' threads. There are a lot of singers threads which have the same say to colour notes here, with blue indicating “clear falsetto”. I’ve had requests to set it like this rather than have all the falsetto notes blue. The original thread on TRP3 had the same colour grading philosophy with harsh falsetto the same colour as modal notes because they’re not obviously falsetto due to the tone of them. The thread about how to include notes states this: “if it has a 'hooty' or clearly disconnected, soft sound we consider it falsetto all the same.” I wouldn’t say any of the notes are “hooty” or “soft” but I have indicated the ones which do for clarification.

Just noticed that you're crediting Invincible for a G#4. Are you sure that's right? The significant notes in that song (after the solo) are A4 and G4.

Man, it's truly the curse of this forum's need to redo threads to rediscover the same notes over and over, lol.

Man, it's truly the curse of this forum's need to redo threads to rediscover the same notes over and over, lol. Yeah, I'm not too familiar with TRP lore lmao. Is there a reason it has been redone so many times? Or is it just a hosting thing?

Yeah in Matt Bellamy's case it's mostly hosting. It's not been redone as many times as certain other threads which seem to be completely re-researched every time a new album is released.

That makes sense I guess. Find it a bit weird having to re-research after every album. Also sorry if I find a bunch of old notes, I'd just never heard that one before and it wasn't in the old thread, it also wasn't on any videos I searched for.

You don't have to apologise. If you listen through the performances of Agitated between 2013 and 2015 (there aren't that many of them) you'll find loads of notes in that range. Also loads of chest B4s and some C5s in performances of Yes Please during the same time period

Is there any reason to include a G#4 from that Micro Cuts performance? I only included it because it was from a performance where they played the metal medley, but when they got to the Micro Cuts riff, Matt did the descending vocals at the end an octave down. Tbh it shouldn't really be needed but he still hit a G4 in chest which I have included.
