Frank is the perfect example of quality over quantity; sure, his range may not have been the most expansive, but what he did with what he had was excellent. He hit the notes he could hit with great feel, tastefulness and technical finesse. And his communicative abilities and phrasing were second to none. His inflections, tone, and sense of timing can't be beat when it comes to conveying the emotion of a song. His style of music didn't call for range wanking; it's not rock'n roll where the spectacle of fifth octave wailing is appropriate. Even the crooners who could go higher than him (Bennett, Andy Williams, Bobby Darin) didn't do so frequently and really only when a song called for it. To call his son better just because he went a semitone higher than his father's highest comfortable area is a laughable claim, frankly; by that logic Billy Corgan is a better singer than Frank Sinatra. A truly good, smart singer knows their limitations and works with what they have, and Frank was a master at that. In my opinion, Sinatra is stretching a bit for the G4 in "Fly me to the moon" from 1965. Towards the end of his life he allegedly had to stretch for F4s. According to his thread he usually kept within G2-F4, which was about right for him.

G2 ("Fools Rush In (Where Angels Fear to Tread)") I very much think this note should be bolded

Frank Sinatra Jr. could effortlessly hit an A4, while Frank Sr. could do no such thing. youtu.be/BkZtvP79jjQ&t=3m05sFrank Sr. definitely had his moments, but I think Frank Jr. was all-around a better singer. Go outside.

Frank Jr. has a very nice voice in his own right. But I feel like if you compare any two skilled singers, you'll find certain things they do better than each other. Frank Sr. is rightly regarded as a contender for having the best vocal delivery in popular music. Whilst his highs had a fairly low ceiling, he was completely able to work around that. I can't think of a Sinatra track that I've heard where his limited upper reaches prevented his other attributes from shining through.

you know there's literally nothing you can do to this thread that will make his range not D2-G#4, right?

In all seriousness I think functionality really starts to get lost once you get past like 20 examples. Is it mainly to preempt people posting a song asking which notes are in it?

I think slugger was being sarcastic The list is useful when you want to look up the range of a song sung by that particular singer, I've done that several times. Sarcasm doesn't work that well on the internet, that's ancient lore.

Bb2s and Eb4s from a cover of "Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word" live in London 1977 (the video title says 1976, but he did not perform in the UK that year, and the song wasn't released until November)

That is Perry Como, not Frank Sinatra.

The joke has been located! Like Steingrim said, sarcasm does not work well on the Internet.
