{Vocal Summary}As frontwoman and keyboardist of noted Swedish genre-breakers Diablo Swing Orchestra since 2014, Kristin Evegård's entry into the band was somewhat polarizing among the band's fanbase. A relatively unknown singer that DSO found by chance on YouTube, Evegård's vocal style is completely different from that of her predecessor, Annlouice Lögdlund. In contrast to Lögdlund's operatic excesses, Evegård sings in an agile, chirpy, yet relatively grounded style influenced by art-pop pioneers such as Tori Amos and Kate Bush. Though still a somewhat high-placed singer in the grand scheme of things, her low range is far stronger and better explored than Lögdlund's ever was. Her versatility complements the band's eclectic music well, able to go from smooth jazzy ballads to avant-garde histrionics and even imitate Lögdlund's operatic high notes in live performances. A bit of a jack-of-all-trades compared to her more specialized predecessor, but one that fits her band like a glove.
