I actually think the A4s from “Kingdom Hall” are some of his most ‘bold-worthy’ notes. I could even understand bolding the B4s — But so many of those A4s — Like the ones at 1:35 on “Good”, “Bring”, & “Free” are excellent; Especially the one on “Free-”… youtu.be/SThHPgmRsi0&t=1m42sHe hits that SO cleanly, on the EE vowel, right after back to back A4s. That's kinda crazy lol. I get a sore throat-just thinking about trying to sing that. I just thought I’d put in my two cents. Either way, the page looks fantastic, and I really appreciate the work you put in. Thanks again. 🙏 Hmm... I suppose I could bold them? I mean I've already got the F♯4s bolded for that song but I suppose there isn't much harm in bolding them as well. I might even put in some new bolds that I haven't previously added to the thread yet.

There we are! Updated with a few new bolds. By the way everyone, I'm totally open to bold suggestions, just some knowledge for the future. Have a good day. (also got rid of smart quotes because they suck)

I really need to finish this thread lol. I'll check out the Band songs and I'll also try to actually finish the final albums needed Gotcha!! 4% Pantomime is not only my fav Band song but one of my favorite songs of all time, so I thought I'd throw it out there in case you hadn't heard it  Richard Manuel is actually one of my 5 Favorite Singers, and “Tears Of Rage” might be my favorite Vocal of All Time. I’d love to make a range thread for him (and Levon) but I’m just too dumb to do it. Are you familiar with the song “Last Of The Blacksmiths”? It’s such an underrated Tune. That’s also another one of my favorite Vocals. youtu.be/8UTIMBR6lwE

(also got rid of smart quotes because they suck) Right on 👊 Thanks again. Ohhh BTW, I just realized that your profile pic is Nick Drake. I know a lot of people will exaggerate when they say things like “So and so’s Music-‘saved my life”… But, ‘Pink Moon’ legitimately might be the reason that I’m here right now. That Album got me through the most traumatic week of my life. So, I like to praise Nick Drake when I can, in case other people aren’t familiar with him. Long story short — You have great taste in Music lol.

His other two albums as well have also helped me find some optimism throughout my life. Also you're welcome for the bolds.

Don’t worry, I can delete this comment after-since it’s not about Van—but, are you familiar with the band ‘Talk Talk’? It’s kind of hard to explain because they have a different sound than Nick Drake--but their albums “Laughing Stock” and “Spirit Of Eden”—have always reminded me of Drake’s Music.

Last of the Blacksmiths is epic and he really does sing the shit out of that one. I often consider rangewatching all three of them (and maybe even Robbie) but idk

I figured you probably knew about them since you have good taste/like Nick Drake, but I wouldn’t be able to sleep if I didn’t make sure you knew who they were.

Didn't keep my own files for some dumb reason Edit: I found this in my Google Docs, it's VERY incomplete but it does have his highest and lowest notes.

Aww dude that bummed me out lol: because I think he truly is the most underrated Singer of All Time. He had one of the most beautiful, most devastating, and most otherworldly voices I’ve ever heard. And the fact that nobody talks about how great of a Singer he was—drives me absolutely insane. His vocal on “Tears of Rage”, by itself, should be enough to have him seen as a “Singing God”. But I digress. That page looks pretty good though. And I didn’t even realize there is a Bb4 in “Blacksmiths”.

To be more specific "cry wolf, said the martyr" and "you're the hero, said the mute"

You know it's strange cuz I always thought of Van as a tenor with a darker tone, but after seeing this thread it seems he's more of a baritone. I know even mentioning voice types can TRIGGER some on this site but I'm curious your thoughts on this since you've done the research? Hmm. I haven't really thought about it much. I tried googling his voice type when I started this thread but it didn't give me a very clear answer. So, here is my take. Van Morrison is a light baritone, however he has a larger tessitura than most baritones would. Obviously being able to scream his lungs out. However, he has also demonstrated an extreme ease in his upper register. By most accounts, his highs should not start at E4, however this thread was made back when I pre-decided everything about the thread, and me, who had only listened to about 5 or 6 songs from this guy when I started (I believe they were "Brown Eyed Girl", "Into The Mystic", "The Way Young Lovers Do", "Moondance", "Bright Side of The Road" and "Wild Night") decided to put his thresholds at D3/E4, however I decided to keep them there because of some notable E4s over his career time, particularly the ones in "Beside You." People will marvel at how he is a "one in a million" voice, but I, who have by all accounts, listened to too much Van Morrison over the past year or so, say that he is just a light baritone with an extended high range.

Gotcha! Yeah high baritone/light baritone sounds like the best fit. If you don't feel the E4 is necessary you could always bring the threshold up to F4. With that being said it would be a shame to not show off that bolded one from "This Love of Mine" cuz it's absolutely fantastic Meh. I’m gonna keep it, simply because it 1. Has so many notes in it 2. As you have stated, has some amazing notes in it Also I’ve kept it for this long, don’t really have TOO much reason to remove it lol.

Why did you unbold the C5 from “Turn On Your Love Light”? I thought it was pretty good.
