Replacement performers in bands. Which ones were an improvement, and which ones were a downgrade?
{Megadeth lead guitarists}
1. Marty Friedman (Guitarist during the classic line-up. Stuff like "Hangar 18" and "Tornado of Souls" is what most people think of when it comes to Megadeth guitar solos.)
2. Chris Broderick (Probably the best for out-and-out shredding tekkers. Not as memorable or expressive as Marty, and more clinical, if that's the word I'm looking for. But aye, very good shredder.)
3. Kiko Loureiro (Really clean lead player. I like his solos pretty well, and he plays the back-catalogue to a high standard too.)
4. Chris Poland (I think Chris Poland is a bit hyped as a guitar player, at least with Megadeth. Most of my favourite solos from that era of the band were played by Dave Mustaine. Like he is obv a good guitar player, but there's not many Megadeth songs where I really find myself focus on his playing.)
5. Glen Drover (Only did one album, but I liked his guitar playing on that album, and even if he did change around some of the solos from before his era, they still sounded good.)
6. Jeff Young (Another one album-er with Megadeth. SFSGSW was a pretty hit-and-miss album, and the guitar solos weren't really a strong point. I feel like he could have done better had he been playing lead on stronger material.)
7. Al Pitrelli (Only did one album, and it wasn't that lead guitar-focused compared to most of their others. Changed around the back-catalogue solos somewhat, and didn't get away with it as well as Glen Drover did)
