{Vocal Summary}The highest-placed of the Bee Gees, Robin Gibb was sort of an odd bird vocally compared to his brothers, Barry and Maurice. Compared to the others' more nasal tones, Robin's was fuller, yet it possessed a characteristic quaver and unique diction that set himself apart from any other pop singer of the day. The diction in particular would worsen over time, becoming quite unbearable by the mid-1990s, but Robin's voice in the late '60s was an emotional jackhammer, able to depict forlorn emotions in the most innocent of ways. While having the least-developed falsetto of any of his brothers, he made up for it by possessing a resonant mix that could extend into the fifth octave. His voice might be acquired taste for some, but once you get the appeal of Robin Gibb, it becomes hard to ignore it.
