This thread will be used to vote for the categories in the upcoming round. Odd-numbered rounds will have categories voted on by contestants, while even-numbered rounds will have their own special categories. To help everyone aptly prepare their clips I've made a spoiler box containing all of the potential categories that might come up during the Clip-Off, which will be edited accordingly as categories are spent.

• Best Usage of Chest Voice and Best Usage of Head Voice/Falsetto are reserved for Round Two.
• Best High Singing, Best Low Singing and Best Usage of Mid-Range are reserved for Round Four.
• Best Singing Spanning an Octave or Less and Best Singing Spanning Two Octaves or More are reserved for Round Six.
• Best Live Performance and Best Studio Performance are reserved for Round Eight.
• You don't have to know what goes into each of these categories, as I will have a definition ready for each category when a poll for voting for them comes up, so you know what you're getting yourself into.
• This thread may be used if you have any new categories in mind (or just general recommendations or queries concerning the categories) that you feel might work for the contest.

Best Diction: Affecting a specific type of delivery to words in phrases (like playing a character) and/or just singing through a particularly difficult passage while keeping the lyrics understandable.
Best Emotional Singing: Affecting an emotional vocal delivery in order to tug at the listener's heartstrings in one way or another.
Best Non-Native Singing: A passage sung in a language the speaker does not natively speak.
Best Usage of Vocal Ornaments/Trills: A passage focusing on trills, little runs, and otherwise jazzing up the melody.
Best Vocal Opening: A passage that starts off the song's vocal part in a way that is interesting or impressive.
Best Vocal Slide: Singing that slides smoothly from one note to another.

Bear in mind that you can only vote for one category at a time!

Best High Belting: Utilizing one's chest and mixed voices to reach powerful high notes. Heady mix is acceptable too, but the chestier it sounds and the more 'ring' it has the better.
Best Lyricless Singing: Singing while not uttering words, but using nonsense sounds and vocalizations.
Best Sustained Low Note(s): A performance focused on holding one or more low notes (relative to the singer) for an extended period of time.
Best Vocal Duet: Two lead singers singing either in harmony, unison or taking turns.
Best Vocal Ending: A passage that ends the song's vocal part.
Most Pleasant Tone: Affecting a satisfying tone in order to sound pleasing to the ears in one way or another.

Best A Cappella Singing: Singing without instrumental accompaniment. The singer can be accompanied by other voices, however.
Best Distorted/Harsh/Heavy Singing: Singing that makes use of distortion, grit, screams, growls, or any other "heavy" technique.
Best Late Career Performance: A performance during the last 20% of the singer's adult (18+) career.
Best Usage of Dynamics/Volume: Manipulating vocal volume and/or tone from one end of the dial to the other.
Best Vocal Contrast:: Suddenly changing vocal style, register, or approach to create a feeling of juxtaposition.
Best Vocal Cover: A performance of a song originally by another artist. The point here is not really to compare the two versions, but the cover itself to be impressive enough to stand on its own.

Best Distorted/Harsh/Heavy Singing: Singing that makes use of distortion, grit, screams, growls, or any other "heavy" technique.
Best Late Career Performance: A performance during the last 20% of the singer's adult (18+) career.

Best Early Career Performance: Any professional performance up to and including the first 20% of the singer's adult (18+) career.
Best F(s): An outstanding example of hitting the F note, regardless of octave.
Best Soft Singing: A performance which particularly emphasizes soft or tender vocals.
Best Usage of Vibrato: Singing that favours tremolo of the voice in order to add, for example, emotion, richness or gravitas to the performance.
Best Vocal Climax: Singing that builds up in intensity to a satisfying peak.
