Nicholas Stephen Moore
Associated Acts: Before Their Eyes (2006–present), The Drama Summer (2006-?) Gentlemen Roosevelt (2013-present)
Vocal Range: B♭2-F5 (2 octaves, 7 notes)
Vocal Type: Midwestern Cool Dude Tenor From A Snow Globe City
{Vocal Summary}
When it comes to modern emo there are chances that most singers in those bands are most likely tenors who can really belt some pretty high notes. Some have criticized this style of singing as too whiny or annoying but to me it takes serious skill to pull off such abilities. Take Ohio native, Nick Moore of the vital post-hardcore band, Before Their Eyes. Moore has to do basically three times of vocals in this band, belting, screaming and harmonizing, which may sound typical of a singer of this genre. However, what he does is so masterfully done that one would expect him to blow his voice but if anything he got better as his career went along. In the beginning Moore sounded typically emo singing highs similar to peers such as Craig Owens, Kellin Quinn and Anthony Green sounding youthful in delivery and mixing the angst associated with the style of music. For the most part he did keep it in mid fifth octave until their most recent album showed Moore belting E5s and F5s like nothing many times. His melodic highs were even higher than most of his screams which always stayed mid-range for the most part. His lower register while not that low is still unique adding emotive moments both in main and background matching the harmony within the song. Moore is a highly underrated emo vocalist who has garnered a status of an experienced singer with many will question, “how could he do that?”
