With his gift for crafting intimate yet sweeping tunes with evocative lyrics, Colorado singer-songwriter Gregory Alan Isakov has quietly become a major player in the indie-folk scene. While not exactly known for having a particularly wide or acrobatic vocal range, he pushes his voice a bit more than many others in the genre. His warm, soft baritone largely sits in its third octave "comfort zone", but has developed a fair bit of ease and strength in its lower register over the years, particularly in the B2-G2 area. He's also capable of some surprisingly convincing and light-sounding fourth octave notes, and his falsetto is quite lovely as well. An excellent songwriter with a voice that works despite its limitations.
