A continuation of the thread which if I recall correctly RINGO started on TRP3, for songs which make you teary/emotional (if you have songs which make you reach for tissues for other reasons, that could be a whole other thread). For whoever doesn't know - The Cure's "Cut Here" is about Billy MacKenzie (of Associates fame). Robert Smith wrote the song after Billy's suicide, and you can hear the pain in his voice as he expresses his regret at procrastinating going for a drink to catch up with his old friend until it was too late. One reason I wanted to share this is because there have been times in my life, even somewhat recently, when I've had suicidal thoughts, and sometimes it's easy for me to imagine that I wouldn't be missed much, but that's bullshit. We never fully know the effects our lives and deaths have on others. I do know I have awesome friends who care about me whether or not I'm aware or deserve it. Just a few weeks ago I got a lovely message on Discord from a friend here who I'm ashamed to say I hadnt even realised cared about me (if you're reading this, you know who you are ) If you're my friend, even if we don't talk often, thank you; and if you're someone with whom I've failed to share my time when I ought to have, I'm sorry and I'll try to do better in future.

{George Michael - One More Try}<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/bG5N3GC-m20" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen=""></iframe> This was touched upon when I sued this for 'emotional singing' in the Clip-Off,' but something about Michael's inflections and the little cry he puts at the end of each verse really gives it an aching sincerity that always hits me very deep when I listen to this song. {Bruce Springsteen - One Step Up}<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/MkFQHScyti0" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen=""></iframe> This song really captures not only the difficulty of realizing a love affair is ending, but more encompasses the agony of feeling like you're never good enough and that you're constantly falling into the same hole over and over again. {Real Love - The Beatles} <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ax7krBKzmVI" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen=""></iframe> A bit of a different type of tear invoking, I think this song really captures the sheer euphoria of being so deeply in love and knowing you will never need anyone else, which is the best feeling in the world.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQvIbkFaq18Don't know if it fits but it's from the time when I met my first love, it's very nostalgic and emotional to me, it was divine and she was all I dreamed about, sincere feelings and sacrificial approaches. She's gone, I'm alone, time still goes on and not much changed but the memory remains and it's oh, so good. The song is touching too, especially if you're a young rookie.

My dad died recently, and he would maybe think it funny that a guy singing about his late boyfriend would remind me of him, but he would understand. My dad always had my back, and helped me through various crises throughout my life. I wish he could have lived longer but I also feel blessed to have had him in my life for as long as I did. When he was in hospital recovering from a major stroke, he wasn't allowed any visitors for some time because of the pandemic, then when the restrictions began to be eased a little, only one designated visitor was permitted, and that was my sister. He then got an infection and became severely ill, and it was only when we knew he wasn't likely to be with us for much longer that I was eventually allowed to visit. He wasn't able to speak, but when he saw me there, he smiled the most beautiful smile of pure love, like {Jesus to a child.}

This entire album. Also:
Always, without fail, makes me (at the very least) tear up just thinking about it. My heart goes out to Jonathan Davis for the abuse he endured.

A Boy And His Frog, by Tom Smith. It's about the death of Jim Henson as sung by Kermit, written and performed live (link below) a day or two after Henson died. I'm not kidding, it is a tear jerker. There's a cd with a studio version that cleans up some imperfections but this version has more raw emotion, I think. www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9kT1xIpZ4E

This song makes me want to drown in an ocean (hypothetically, and in a good way) in the hopes that i won't be saved and this will be the last lifeboat i know of: {Spoiler}
And many songs by Portishead give me the melancholic feel, in particular this one: {Spoiler}
