Not a particularly amazing note here by any means, but I'm hearing this spoken bit get as low as D2 on "quaTRO cinco cinco seis"...

Also I personally think the "She's Got Issues" G5 should still be counted as a non-questionable note (:))

Alright, here's what I got:

I actually thought the album was pretty decent and enjoyed it overall. Dexter's voice seems to be holding up pretty well for his mid fifties. You can hear that he's slightly shifted his tessitura to focus on the G4-A4 range a bit more instead of just busting out endless notes in the B4/C5 range like he used to, but he's making it work pretty well and clearly has enough high range left to still get the job done effectively. His signature tone/grit is still quite present in the higher belting parts on this album, and there are a lot of aspects of the writing/performances that still give it a lot of signature Offspring characteristics while not being completely derivative and unoriginal. My only major complaint is that they went a bit too heavy with the autotune on Dexter's vocals on certain songs - the worst offender of this is probably the re-recorded piano ballad version of "Gone Away", which is quite beautiful and really would've been an incredible piece otherwise. The amount of autotune doesn't quite ruin it for me, but I wish they would've laid off it a bit more, because those mildly robotized vocals really clash against the tender, haunting piano and string parts behind them. But hey, at least we got a handful of additional lows out of him on this album, including a new second octave note even!

yeah but the E5s sound crystal clear that it's him. these D5s sound more vague and artifical so I dunno

ehh I listened to it again and it still doesn't sound too amazin. I think it's textbook questionable where the note isn't too garbage to be completely ignored but also not good enough to be significant, unless the standards got lower and I'm alone here

If a note isn't too garbage to be ignored, that's not a textbook questionable lol. It's just an underwhelming note. Which I get isn't always the most exciting thing to include, but calling something questionable just because it's underwhelming is a bit too harsh I'd say.

I meant that if the note isn't good, and it's not like he's consistently pumping G5s here and there, does it really make sense to include it in his "significant vocal range"? my argument is basically that it falls under the section of "mark notes that are not of a substantial enough quality to warrant counting towards the singer's range"

If your argument is that well it's not complete garbage it's just garbage therefore it should be counted then Idk if I agree with that, unless I'm not getting you right. or if there's a general consensus that the note is fine I don't mind changing it cos I get it that it can be subjective to an extent

I think that if a note is just underwhelming that doesn't make it not countable. Honestly the 5th category for questionable notes always felt super arbitrary to me. It always seems up to the individuals perception on what is high enough quality to count.

Not even in the top 5 smallest low notes sections compared to high note sections on the forum. Lots of rock singers just suck at using their low ranges in general.

This is why I think it's always a good idea to place the high threshold for these high note-oriented singers two or three notes below what's necessary in their prime, just to account for when their high singing inevitably declines. Just so a massive portion of their discography isn't excluded.
