Also, with her extensive upper range (which I've witnessed up to E♭6 live), she has to be a soprano. Very naturally girlish timbre that has especially strong lows for a soprano down to D3-E3 or so but isn't as at ease as her upper notes. Whoa that was quite the F#6 (and find in general)! Notes have been added, though coming back to this thread after a bit I remember how confusing the attempts at using blue have been thus far. I listed the C#6 normally and put the F#6 as blue just cause it had a lot of extra air behind it, but I'd be interested in hearing what others think about colorization in this OP in general.

As for her voice type, I can kinda see the soprano argument more in recent years since she's developed that 6th octave so much more but her tone still has that mezzo depth to my ears. Might be one of several singers where voice types don't really apply as she's in quite a grey area there.

Also, I figured it was time for her to have a live performance OP pic so I updated that as well. The dimensions are a little narrow but I think it works overall, let me know if you think something else would work better though.

I just can't see any difference in timbre between the bolded B♭5 and B5 versus the bolded blue notes. Maybe it's cuz I'm a male singer but virtually all of those notes sound like head voice (or falsetto for the E6 and F#6) and can someone explain why it matters if a note is "disconnected"

I have only made a handful of threads, but I only use blue on the male singers because I genuinely don't trust myself to distinguish female vocal registers. Maybe you could air it on the safe side and just make it all black lol

You make a fair point. I removed blue for the time being and added new notes from a few guest appearances and that new single Sunset. Hopefully we get an album release date announced soon!

As far as what "disconnected" means - it's basically a term to describe an audible break in resonance when going from chest voice to head voice or falsetto. Essentially the sort of thing yodelling focuses on. With Polachek it's true that much of her style is built around those sudden resonance shifts, so short of calling everything above D5 blue it's probably easier to just list the notes as they are lol.

New song "Welcome to My Island" is out and has some cool notes! E3s and F♯3s for the lows. Some nice belted C♯5s and E5s. Along with some head vois/falsetto F♯5s, B5s and an E6

Oh nice! Those belted E5s were especially surprising, she doesn't usually drag chest voice tone that high. Cool tune overall too though that semi-rapping section was kind of odd lol. Really dug the chorus, definitely excited to hear the full album. I added all the notes you mentioned except the C#5s because it seemed she always went higher right after hitting them (plus I also included an A3 from the ending).

lol that section is a little random, but definitely quite cool! Strong track overall, also added G3 and C5s from it in addition to the notes you mentioned and fixed the sizing issue with the OP pic. Only 9 days now till the new album, should definitely be quite something I suspect!

Thanks for the notes, they have been added! I guess I missed those Pang F#3s which is rather odd. As for Dang, I'm surprised she's already releasing a new single so soon after the last full length. It's a bit heavy on the glitchy sounds for me but it's got a strong hook, I wonder if this reflects the intended direction of the next album or not.

Largely because at the time I listened to it originally I wasn't sure which parts were her and which parts were Grimes or Dido, but if this is true I'm more than happy to update it.

Might just be my personal preference but I really like the E♭5 in "Smoke" at 2:18 and think it might be boldworthy? She certainly sustains it for a good bit
