Post your re-imagined track listings that would in your opinion improve the albums they're based on. For example, I just came up with this genius abridged version of the two Use Your Illusion albums by Guns N' Roses. - "Coma"
- "The Garden"
- "Double Talkin' Jive"
- "Perfect Crime"
- "You Ain't the First"
- "November Rain"
- "Civil War"
- "Yesterdays"
- "Pretty Tied Up (The Perils of Rock 'n' Roll Decadence)"
- "Locomotive (Complicity)"
- "Estranged"
- "You Could Be Mine"
- Sets the mood perfectly with those heartbeats in "Coma" and continues the feel of stepping into an alien world with "The Garden" without explicitly spelling it out. - "You Could Be Mine" is a teeth-kicking closer that doesn't let you off the hook thematically with a 'happy ending' without being overly daft about it like "My World". - The riff from "Double Talkin' Jive" is used like four times throughout the two albums, let's just have that one song there to alleviate the homogeneity. - "You Ain't the First" and "Dust N' Bones" could potentially be switched, but I prefer the sardonic levity of the former. - I rather like "Don't Cry" but it could have easily just been released as a single; it wouldn't fit thematically into this abridged version (nor does it really fit into Use Your Illusion I). Equally representing both volumes of Use Your Illusion, I honestly believe this could have been a definitive one-album version of this rather bloated effort. BOOM, fixed your album.

The Rolling Stones, Aftermath.
1. I'm Alright (Live) 2. The Last Time (Live) 3. (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction (Live) 4. Route 66 (Live) 5. Get Off Of My Cloud (Live) 6. I'm Moving On (Live)
1. Paint It, Black 2. Under My Thumb 3. Mother's Little Helper 4. 19th Nervous Breakdown 5. Lady Jane 6. Out Of Time
I took the album title literally and turned into some kind of a concept one with what they have had before and what did they become now. Got rid of the "Goin' Home" time killer, the other numbers that didn't make the cut will fill up the following albums instead of the obviously bad ones. Perhaps try to save the 'Their Satanic...' album, too.

Here's a single disc roundup of the better tracks from Sinatra's Trilogy, called I've Been There after the only salvageable original track from The Future:
1. The Song is You 2. I Had the Craziest Dream 3. You and Me (We Wanted It All) 4. My Shining Hour 5. Street of Dreams 6. More Than You Know 7. Something 8. Let's Face the Music and Dance 9. All of You 10. I've Been There! 11. Summer Me, Winter Me 12. They All Laughed 13. (Theme from) New York, New York 14. Remember *
* Outtake written by Elton John and Bernie Taupin, only done live and never officially released.
Three sub-par Grateful Dead albums (Terrapin Station, Shakedown Street, Go to Heaven) condensed into one really, really good record:
1. Shakedown Street 2. Estimated Prophet 3. Alabama Getaway 4. Samson and Delilah 5. If I Had the World to Give 6. Althea 7. Lost Sailor 8. Saint of Circumstance 9. Terrapin Station
A similar exercise, with the Rolling Stones post-Tattoo You output for the 1980s':
1. Undercover of the Night 2. Sad Sad Sad 3. She Was Hot 4. Wanna Hold You 5. Almost Hear You Sigh 6. Rock and a Hard Place 7. Mixed Emotions 8. Break the Spell 9. One Hit (To the Body) 10. Slipping Away

There's literally no reason for Senjutsu to be a double album. You could take almost any five songs off it at random and assemble them into a pretty neat album, but here's my take: - "Stratego"
- "The Writing on the Wall"
- "The Time Machine"
- "Darkest Hour"
- "Hell on Earth"
- Shit's like 37 minutes, more than enough for an album. - Okay, it'd still be like a 4/5 album at best, but reeling in the length would be a very welcome surprise at this point. Perfect, no notes.

Mitski's Retired from Sad, New Career in Business is one of my favourite albums of all time but the tracklisting order makes me wanna die (seriously, whose idea was it to put "Strawberry Blond" between "Square" and "Class of 2013"?!) So I tried re-arranging it to something a bit less jarring. Although, the opening and closing songs are perfect where they are so I just shifted the rest around.
1. Goodbye, My Danish Sweetheart 2. Strawberry Blond 3. I Want You 4. Humpty 5. Square 6. Shame 7. Circle 8. Because Dreaming Costs Money, My Dear 9. Class of 2013

Honestly the best thing would've been if they had narrowed down the best tracks of both albums and released them as one without the filler. I feel the same way about Guns n' Roses' Use Your Illusion albums to a degree - which they actually did do release a single-disc trimmed down version of, but ironically I'd say that version still kept some of the worst and got rid of some of the best unfortunately. I might end up revisiting both of those album duos sometime in the Fix Your Albums thread. Anyway, as far as Load vs. ReLoad goes, I'd say both of them have their fair share of good songs and forgettable songs, but Load overall has more good songs, and some of the good songs are legit bangers. Looking back on the ReLoad track list though, there really aren't that many songs on there that I can say are truly great songs that I go out of my way to relisten to very often. We're doing it now ! Let's call it Fixxxer for extra irony points: - "The House That Jack Built"
- "Until It Sleeps"
- "Hero of the Day"
- "The Unforgiven II"
- "Bleeding Me"
- "The Memory Remains"
- "Prince Charming"
- "Fixxxer"
- "Mama Said"
- "Thorn Within"
- "Low Man's Lyric"
I think this would be an amazing album conceptually; it has a really clear through-line for the themes of addiction and giving it a sort of abstract narrative. A super bummer narrative with this sequencing, but I like bleak albums anyway. Basically, up to and including "Bleeding Me" we're introduced to the album and we're exploring some general themes. The main character talks about himself in a self-pitying fashion and we hear how he talks to himself. "The Memory Remains" comments on everything we've been through so far and sets up "Prince Charming", which is the big high, absolutely tainted with the demon inside the main character. Then it all comes to a halt for a crashing comedown and a super sentimental couple of songs about mom and dad, the main character basically writhing with the pain of all these memories that he's been trying to run away from. "Thorn Within" might be a bit of a weird addition to the track listing, but it brings us full circle with the protagonist's characterisation, to where we find his emotional center. He's talking directly to us now; he's completely embittered and doesn't believe he's worthy of redemption. By "Low Man's Lyric" we're basically back thematically with "The House That Jack Built", seeing the main character regretfully indulging in his addictions, and the cycle begins again. I really like "King Nothing" but I don't think it would fit narratively into this album. Maybe have it as a promotional single or do some sort of EP with that song in it à la Beyond Magnetic. There's more than enough songs to do that with on both of these albums. I love the idea of the lullaby-esque hurdy-gurdy book-ending the stretch beginning from "The Memory Remains", too.

That’s an amazing concept. I might still try to squeeze in Devil’s Dance somewhere, and I feel like there should be more space between Bleeding Me and Fixxxer; Fixxxer really feels more like an album ended to me.

The only Queen albums that I'll fix are Hot Space and The Miracle. Both have a bad production in my opinion (especially Hot Space), and they have some songs that sounds quite out of place.
Hot Space: Firstly, I'd surely re-record all the songs, giving them the rock vibe they had live, because Hot Space studio material is clearly a shade below the live one. Then I'd switch Cool Cat with Soul Brother, which is better and fit the album more. I'd also remove one between Las Palabras De Amor or Put Out The Fire, they sounds very out of place in my opinion.
The Miracle: Here I'd switch My Baby Does Me and Rain Must Fall with Hang On In There (much more rocker, fits with the other songs) and My Life Has Been Saved (clearly a better product than the other two honestly). Maybe I'd re-record Party giving to it a rocker vibe to fit better with Khashoggi's Ship.

Hey, here's another Guns N' Roses one, because wow, they've gone for a lot of questionable album decisions in their time. I was listening to the session tracks on the deluxe version of Appetite for Destruction and I started thinking back to the concept of G N' R Lies. Would it not have been a much more engaging album had it actually stuck to a concept? Clearly they would have had all the materials for it. So, that's the exact kind of album I went on to imagine: - "Shadow of Your Love" 1986 Sound City Session
- "Reckless Life" 1986 Sound City Session
- "Nice Boys" 1986 Sound City Session
- "Move to the City" Acoustic Version / 1986 Sound City Session
- "Mama Kin" 1986 Sound City Session
- "The Plague" 1986 Sound City Session
- "Ain't Goin' Down No More" Instrumental Version / 1986 Sound City Session
- "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" Live at the Marquee Club, London 1987
- "Whole Lotta Rosie" Live at the Marquee Club, London 1987
- "Heartbreak Hotel" 1986 Sound City Session
- "Jumpin' Jack Flash" 1986 Sound City Session
- "Back Off Bitch" 1986 Sound City Session
- "It's So Easy" Live at the Marquee Club, London 1987
- "You're Crazy" Acoustic Version / 1986 Sound City Session
- "New Work Tune" 1986 Sound City Session
- "November Rain" Piano Version / 1986 Sound City Session
Nothing too complicated going on here. Just a kind of Past-Present-Future compilation, which is reinforced by the bunch of covers included. This album would preserve the idea presented in the first half of G N' R Lies while making it a much more substantive experience overall. An acoustic version of "You're Crazy" is also there and also a really aloof version of "Move to the City" to complement it, also adding to the manic carefree energy of the album in its own right.

"rock vibe" "rocker vibe" You know, it's okay if Queen doesn't wanna sound all that rock sometimes, am I wrong? I mean, I do understand people's criticism of Hot Space, even though I personally enjoy the album a lot, Cool Cat is a banger and, for what it's worth, I think the album is the way it should be. Not trying to whine about your personal opinion on how these albums could be better, in fact I greatly respect that take and I think Hot Space COULD have been a killer live album if they chose to do it that way, Hot Space EU tour was phenomenal after all.

"Atom Heart Mother" would be significantly improved if the suite was the B side, rather than the A side (like they did on "Meddle", with "Echoes" to great effect).
The other songs, whilst far from Floyd's best ("Fat Old Sun" was fairly good tho), would work better if they didn't have to follow by far the most expansive and complex part of the record.
This also goes for ELP's "Tarkus", and probably a lot of other prog records that open the big epic, and then have a B-side that feels like fluff in comparison.

I forgot we were rethinking The Stranger with ellie and RINGO a while back. This is sort of along the lines of the discussion we had: 1. "Scenes from an Italian Restaurant" 2. "Vienna" 3. "Get It Right the First Time" 4. "Just the Way You Are" 5. "The Stranger" 6. "Only the Good Die Young" 7. "She's Always a Woman" 8. "Movin' Out (Anthony's Song)" You know, so long as it doesn't have "Everybody Has a Dream" on it.

Here's how I would re-arrange Use Your Illusion:
1. Right Next Door to Hell 2. Live and Let Die 3. Breakdown 4. Don't Cry 5. Civil War 6. Pretty Tied Up 7. Locomotive 8. November Rain 9. The Garden 10. Estranged 11. You Could Be Mine 12. Coma

Been meaning to do this for a while. Let's fix "Donda", Kanye West's 2021 album. It had its highlights, and it has at least grown on me a little. But there is a lot of filler, the track order doesn't really seem to know what it wants to do, and it's just a bit of a mess that could have been better. Fair warning, I'm cutting 9, count 'em, 9 songs from this album. {Donda (Clem's Version) Track List}1. Donda Chant - I've come to like this intro. Wasn't sure about it at first, but now I'm glad it's how the album begins.
2. Jail (Pt. 2) - I like Jail as an opener, but Jay's verse was pretty weak, and DaBaby actually kinda nailed it in the part 2 version, so I'd just use part two version in the main tracklist but probably still call it "Jail".
3. Off the Grid - Originally track 4. This one grew on me a lot. Took a while to get into trap Kanye, but it's good at what it is. A song talking about becoming reclusive, or removed from the public, for the sake of his family's wellbeing, because of the backlash they could face because of his outspoken nature, following a song about a judgemental and unforgiving world also makes more sense now that we're taking out "God Breathed".
4. Remote Control - Originally track 12. After an emotionally heavy beginning, something a bit more laid back and less serious like this would suit well.
5. Hurricane - Kind of an 808s&HB vibe from the production on this one, and I think track five is a good place for it. Even moreso when it's following "Remote Control", rather than the higher intensity "Off the Grid". Lyrically, it's contemplative of the role of God in our lives, and if good/bad really happens to deserving people. That fits pretty well if we've got a story of someone who has become reclusive because of how hostile the public can become on a whim.
6. Jonah - Originally track 7. Cool production but not all that memorable on its own. Lyrically very open to interpretation, but has its general overtones of faith and Biblical imagery, so it fits enough. At a stretch, if Jonah lived inside a big fish for a few days and prayed, that could tie in with feelings of isolation and ruminating with his faith. For me, it marks the end of the first act anyhow.
7. Believe What I Say - Originally track 10. Ye caught in two minds about being outspoken. It gets him into trouble, but would he fronting or lacking sincerity if he stopped if that's the way he really is and part of what made him famous? Those feelings of isolation are getting to our narrator. He has too much to say to remove himself from public life.
8. Jesus Lord - Originally track 17. Ye's faith in humanity isn't in good shape here. Our narrator examines the socio-political causes for the hostile society that has caused him to want to become reclusive. Jay Electronica drops an utter beast of a verse on this one too.
9. Moon - Originally track 13. A pleasant, more optimistic departure, which makes sense since "Heaven and Hell" follows.
10. Heaven and Hell - Originally track 14. Our narrator has his mojo back. Kanye's struggling faith in humankind is restored by his faith in God. Going reclusive when the world needs saving and people need redeeming is the opposite of what he should be doing. This feels like the end of act II.
11. Keep My Spirit Alive - Originally track 16. Kanye wants to honour his mother, Donda, and be her legacy to the world, and that's a lot of additional pressure to put on himself.
12. New Again - Originally track 18. Kanye knows that in the eyes of God he can always be redeemed when he falls short, and that's a weight lifted from him.
13. Lord I Need You - Originally track 20. Kanye accepting he isn't perfect, and that he needs God for direction. But what makes this track stand out from his other Christian raps is that for the first time he seems to contemplating that the damage to his personal life might already have been done. God forgives him, and won't desert him. But the people around him can only take so much before they have to walk away. This would have flowed into "Come to Life" so well.
14. Come to Life - Originally track 22. Kanye, someone who has previously stated that he has never felt regret, wishes he could go back and do better. Although he acknowledges that he has to draw a line under it, move on, and look for the "silver lining". The natural closer on the album. It was a mistake to put another song after this one. {Culled Tracks}God Breathed - Originally track 3. Wasn't feeling this one, and it didn't feed into the concept of the record all that well besides general religious connotations.
Praise God - Originally track 6. This track just felt kinda tedious.
Ok Ok - Originally track 8. Felt like filler to me.
Junya - Originally track 9. Felt like filler to me.
24 - Originally track 11. Difficult to cut this one, since I like it enough. But it was surplus to requirement, and there are other songs on this album that convey a similar sentiment to greater effect.
Donda - Originally track 15. Yes, I'm cutting the title track. I can see why he wanted to have his mum's voice on the record, but the track itself doesn't serve the album well, in my opinion. I think the same spoken word sample could have been used on "Keep My Spirit Alive", and got more out of it that way.
Tell the Vision - Originally track 19. I don't know what purpose this track was meant to serve. It's kind of like an interlude, but one that doesn't foreshadow anything, or mark a new chapter, or indicate a change of pace. Easiest one to cut from the record.
Pure Souls - Originally track 21. Difficult to cut this one as well, since it's not a bad track. But I don't see anywhere that I particularly think it fits in without getting in the way of the flow in a way, and offsets what it would bring to the table.
No Child Left Behind - Outro that's fine, but didn't need to be there. "Come to Life" wraps things up so conclusively that anything after that was a poor choice.
Don't need any of the part two tracks on the deluxe version either, since I'm just counting Jail Pt. 2 as the better version of Jail.

I feel for him when the most effective medication for his disorder gets in the way of him being able to do his job. But he can't carry on with the way he's currently managing it when it just leads back to the same place again.

It recently came to my attention that you could narrow down the best of AC/DC's discography from 1981 onward into one really good album and chop all the derivative repetition that most of it was spaced out over. So here's my best go at it:
- "Thunderstruck"
- "Flick of the Switch"
- "Fire Your Guns"
- "Shake Your Foundations"
- "Playing with Girls"
- "Ballbreaker"
- "Two's Up"
- "The Furor"
- "The Razor's Edge"
- "Evil Walks"
- "If You Dare"
- "For Those About to Rock (We Salute You)"
I'm not quite 100% on the track order yet, but I have it broken up as a classic A side/B side split with different moods on each side. The first half of the album is basically just a compilation of six of their best hard rock bangers with the typical kinds of sleazy sexual innuendo-laden lyrics that most people know them for. The second half, however, shifts a change into some of their more serious and darker numbers from that era that have more dimension to them than just energy and horniness. "Two's Up" serves as the turning point for this, because while it still has some pretty sexual lyrics (though honestly it's one of those ones where the innuendos get so bizarre that I'm not entirely sure what it's meant to be about), it does have a bit of a more serious, intense mood to it. We then get to "The Furor", which is a bit of an outlier track for them as it seemingly describes life in an authoritarian regime of some sort, and is definitely one of their more serious songs in that regard. This then leads us perfectly into "The Razor's Edge", probably one of their heaviest and darkest songs describing some sort of dystopian atmosphere, which in this context could be seen as a possible aftermath to what is described in "The Furor". We then pick the mood back up with "Evil Walks", which is a more fun song but definitely still on the heavier side, and then continue on to "If You Dare", which has a great sense of ominous suspense to it that really serves as an epic crescendo for that mood aspect of the album. Finally, we resolve from that darkness with "For Those About to Rock (We Salute You)", which is just a classic closing anthem for the band and tops it off better than almost any other song of theirs could.
I only bothered to include tracks up through Ballbreaker, because honestly there are just about no songs from their 2000s albums onwards that I would genuinely miss if they were erased from the band's discography. Admittedly I still haven't listened to Power Up yet, but based on the last three albums before it I don't feel like I'm missing out on much by not having heard it. I think Stiff Upper Lip was around when they started to lose more of their redeeming qualities, but up until that point they usually had at least 1-2 genuinely really good songs per album, so I tried to capture the best of that here.
