Never heard the song before but when listened for the first time it instantly brought back the memories of first love, the chords, the lyrics and the rhythm combine the sound of the truest relation you'll ever know. It quite literally reminds me of her and I have often thought.

I have to talk about this one; ultimate mood for life and probably my favourite song of all time.
No other song has so successfully summarized my feelings of alienation reverberating from every road, street, and house I remember seeing. The disconnect I have from other people; the feelings of nostalgia that are really regret in disguise; the pain of having to let go of your old habits and habitats. This song is the pressure in my chest I feel when I think about the past, and everything I would do with the benefit of hindsight.
The interaction between the narrator and the waitress at the mid-point of the song is open for endless interpretations, too. Upon recent listens I've thought of the waitress as a metaphor for all the women in my life I've failed to meet the expectations of. The waitress is a stand-in for romantic relationships, and the image being drawn is one of an ex.
On the other hand, I wouldn't say it's a depressive song. Really, it's about growth. About facing the world as it is, and, not necessarily overcoming it but, learning to exist within it for your own purpose. Other people can be counted on to pursue their respective goals and move on with their lives, and you should be too.
And that's good enough for now.

One of my favorite Rush songs off one of my least favorite Rush albums. I just feel like this song captures the general malaise, uncertainty, and frustration, both internally and externally, at the current state of the world and the isolation (voluntary and involuntary) I feel every day, as I'm sure many others do. The idea that life is passing by and we really can't control it. "It's such a cloudy day Seems we'll never see the sun Or feel the day has possibilities Frozen in the moment The lack of imagination Between how it is and how it ought to be Between how it is and how it ought to be." Reminds me a lot of this Wishbone Ash song www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvLVSPPLZZY#t=3m20s
