{Synopsis}Julia's resonant and light mixed voice combined with the production techniques of her studio albums makes way for one of the most supreme displays of pure mood in the ouvre of popular music. Throughout her career she has displayed leanings for everything from musique concréte to ambient music, all the while keeping her sensibilities focused on jazz and pop, through which Julia has made her vocal versatility apparent. Whether it's lower singing, high falsetto or her most recognizable ethereal mixed voice, Julia always shows a preference to keep her voice accompanying the arrangement as opposed to showing off lead-focused vocals, which requires her to stretch her voice in less obvious ways that are unheard of for many a stereotypical diva belter. At its best Julia's voice can call to you in your dreams, emulate the formless noise of a city street or bring to life an entire biological community of interacting organisms. A tender voice on its own, perhaps, but a momentous force of artistry when let loose in nuanced layers within progressively poppy compositions.
