Best known as the lead vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and main songwriter behind The Dear Hunter, Casey Crescenzo is known for his multilayered falsetto harmonies and powerful tenor belts that frequently reach up to the edge of the fifth octave. Early on, these high belts tended to have a raspy, fried, or borderline screamed sound due to his post-hardcore roots, but his upper range has gradually become cleaner over the years, becoming soaring and confident in both studio and live settings. His lows have likewise evolved, sounding stronger in the upper second octave and even occasionally dipping lower in backing harmonies.
