Hey all, so we thought it might do some good to clarify this process a little bit. You may have noticed some threads that are orphaned/abandoned, which is to say the original poster (OP) is either no longer active or has openly stopped upkeeping the thread. Our normal protocol for claiming existing threads of course is to ask the OP and, if they either don't respond in two weeks or give their consent, you're free to claim the thread and work on it. Moreover, if you're interested in working on a thread hosted by Steve, more times than not staff will give you the green light to work on it. Of course, we do want to make sure the accuracy/depth of research in a remade thread is on-par with if not better than what we currently have. Threads are personal projects, but obviously the research gets shared with our community and the interwebz at-large. So the purpose of this thread, similar to the Ready for Review thread, is to share the research you've made for any threads you'd like to adopt. You may share your research via Google Doc, put the entire thread here in a spoiler, so on, so forth. You may also message any staff with the research if you'd rather not share it publicly yet. Whatever works for you, just so long as we can see it. Staff will either give you permission to post the thread to the Work-in-Progress Threads board or tell you what you need to work on to get it there. Once your thread is approved and posted, we'll retire the old one. From there, you're welcome to post your thread to the Ready for Review thread when you feel it's ready for the Range Stuff board. In short, if you're remaking an abandoned thread, share the research with us when you feel it's ready to be posted and we'll review it! P.S. if you're not a staff member but you have something constructive to say about any research posted here, you're more than welcome to comment. Peer reviewing is rad!

First post! I asked the OP of the Ben Barlow thread for permission to take it, and two weeks have passed without response. (Proof in the TRP Discord.) This is the thread: {Ben Barlow Thread} Ben Barlow (22 July 1994 - present) Years Active: 2012 - present Associated Acts: Neck Deep Vocal Range: F2 - E5
{Vocal Summary}In the process of conducting research for this thread, I sat down with Ben Barlow for an interview about his vocal range. After the typical pleasantries, I asked the burning question: "How did your voice get so high in just five years?" He looked at me, took a quick sip from his helium balloon, and responded: "Practise. Lots and lots of practise."
Ben Barlow had one of the most inspiring vocal transformations in all of pop-punk. His early performances were gritty and emotive, acting as a force of cathartic energy for a once hot-tempered Neck Deep, and his range was impressive for a seemingly self-taught vocalist. However, he was known to falter in the live setting, making it clear that his vocal stylings were unsustainable and unpredictable. His consistency would quietly improve from 2012-2016, as he experimented more with mixed voice and more showcases of his clean lower register, although his raw delivery remained a hallmark. Starting in 2016, Ben's vocal tendencies began to shift, becoming more melodic and utilising healthier singing techniques, although nobody could have anticipated how quickly he would improve. By 2020, he was effortlessly belting D5s live in concert, and reaching crystal-clear E5s in the studio. Beyond the mastery of his mixed voice, he also improved his low range, reaching lower than ever before with impressive clarity. Due to this massive shift, Ben Barlow can be classified as one of pop-punk's grittiest and most powerful screamers, and one of its most consistent high-pitched belters, at the same time. Ben's journey of vocal mastery seems to have reached its peak, as his vocals have remained consistent since 2020, although at this point, him not surprising us would be more surprising than if he doesn't.
{A Few Examples of His Voice (Through the Years)}Good showcase of where he started, messy vocals and all.
The most versatile vocal delivery from the early years. Does a good job showcasing how far he'd come since Rain in July.
Quintessential high-pitched Ben, proving how comfortable he's become with his high range.
Shows how different his low range sounds, but also how capable it is.
Basically the gold standard for Ben performances in the modern age.

With thanks to aphelion for creating the original thread! Heyo, sorry for the late response. I don't personally hear the A2 in "Crush" although if you want to run it by more people by all means. The lowest I hear is C♯3, the A2 sounding more like an A3 to me. Pending the weird formatting, other than that you're good to post the thread.

I was unsure about it too, but listening to the acapella I do hear it on the last line. I'll put it to discussion in the new thread. Do you have any idea how to change the colour of hyperlinks?
