Linda Maria Ronstadt
Vocal Range: C♯3 - E♭6
Associated Acts: The Stone Poneys (1965 - 1968), Solo (1967 - 2011)
{Background & Vocal Summary:}Linda Ronstadt is an American singer-songwriter known for hit songs such as "Blue Bayou" and "You're No Good". While Linda began her career in the late 60s as a part of the group "The Stone Poneys", she didn't necessarily come into the public eye until she released "Heart Like a Wheel" and "Simple Dreams" with the former featuring the #1 single "You're No Good" and the latter featuring "Blue Bayou" which is generally considered her signature song. One of the leading women in the 70s, Linda was one of the most popular female singers at the time and famous for her "rock chick" image. Linda has had a very lengthy career spanning over four decades and she is also known for her collaborations (particularly with Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris) and her versatility with genres, singing in rock music, Spanish music, jazz music and so on. Her final albums titled "Hummin' to Myself" and "Adieu False Heart" were released in 2004 and 2006 respectively with the latter being a duet album. After completing her final tour in 2009, Linda announced that she was retiring in 2011 and was diagnosed with progressive supranuclear palsy (originally misdiagnosed as Parkinson's disease) the next year, leaving her unable to sing. While Linda is no longer be able to sing, her distinct singing and sound has influenced many artists including Shania Twain and Sheryl Crow and she is well-deserving of the praise she has received over the years.
Linda's voice is that of a soprano. Famed for her powerful, emotional and distinct vocals, Linda was more than capable of delivering strong and consistent vocal performances across the span of her career. She possesses a fairly strong lower register that grew stronger over the years, showing comfort singing in the mid to lower third octave ("King of Bohemia", "Falling Down", "When I Grow Too Old to Dream"). Linda is most-known for her powerful belting, which she showed off in her prime years. She could deliver strong belts whenever she liked and sustain them for impressive amounts of time ("Party Girl", "The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress", "Dreams to Dream"). Although used less frequently, Linda has a rather impressive head voice, showing great ease in the upper-fifth octave and even the sixth ("Poor Wandering One", "La Boheme (Finale)", "I Knew You When"). While she has retired and unfortunately been left unable to sing after her diagnosis of Parkinson's disease, her voice will still be remembered as one of the finest of her time.

{Questionable Notes:}E♭3 ("I Believe in You" questionable quality)
D3 ("Cry Me a River" questionable quality, "White Rhythm & Blues" questionable quality)
• A lot of the lead vocals on "A Merry Little Christmas" are questionable. Linda is the only person credited for lead vocals for the entire album on each song (minus one duet) yet some of the songs do feature lead vocals that I'm unsure are Linda because they usually feature vocals in the mid fifth octave (up to G5) which Linda usually didn't use much around the time period and there a few background vocalists credited as singing soprano vocals (which includes Linda) so I've only included notes that I'm 100% sure are Linda.

• I have been unable to find recordings of most of the "Escalator Over the Hill (1971)" album that Linda sung on and don't know which songs she sung in particular besides from "Why". She could have sang on more of the tracks that I have been unable to find, however she might have only sang on "Why" for all I know.
• If a song has been recorded numerous times across her career (such as "Silver Threads And Golden Needles" which was featured on "Hand Sown ... Home Grown" and was later recorded again for "Don't Cry Now") then the version marked on the thread will be of the first studio recording. If no re-recordings are listed then that is because they have the same/less significant notes. If a certain version does have notes that another version does not, then it will be specified.
• Notes from the song "Finale" from the musical "The Pirates of Penzance" have been omitted due to the section in which Linda sings sounding very similar to her singing in "Poor Wandering One" and is more than likely just her section in that song being sampled.
