{Vocal Summary}Jun Chiba (referred to exclusively by his stage name, Yomi) is the vocalist for Japanese alternative rock visual-kei group Nightmare. He is one of the most distinctive vocalists in visual-kei, possessing a bizarrely respectable voice and a trademark belting style which (though not uncommon for visual-kei) stands out as very much his own among contemporaries. Though occasionally sounding flat around the top of the 4th octave (though he is generally more than capable of pulling off his signature belts there), his falsetto range is very calm and controlled past that point. Over time and very noticeably since 2013, Yomi's voice has begun to deteriorate in quality, becoming much more nasal and fragile and his placement lowering considerably. Though despite becoming far less comfortable in his upper range, he has developed a lot more depth to his (previously virtually non-existent) lower register.
Yomi appears to have suffered serious vocal damage as of 2015. He can no longer properly support notes above E4 and has to make extensive, very unpleasant to listen to use of twang in order to get notes that used to be effortless for him to resonate properly. His vocal placement is much lower than it used to be, most likely as a result of abuse. Nightmare have vowed to temporarily suspend activities after 2016, presumably so that the members can recuperate from the strenuous activity the band has consistently tried to maintain since 2010. Whether or not Yomi will return from the hiatus having recovered his voice seems unlikely, as the damage is unfortunately painfully audible.
