An eclectic singer-songwriter hailing from San Francisco. Having started off recording her albums on an analogue tape in 2007, Jessica's only really recently become more appreciated in indie circles - her first major studio backing came in 2019 with Quiet Signs, though her unorthodox approach to songwriting and performing hasn't been compromised one bit.
Perhaps the most distinctive aspect of Jessica's music is how she uses her voice. Though not particularly wide-ranging or bold, Jessica's voice is a particularly memorable one because of her unusual nasal timbre (sounding almost Joanna Newsom-esque at times) combined with her generally soft approach. Her low notes are much stronger, however, than you might assume from someone with a tone like hers. Her voice may be a quintessentially marmite one, but it's not one you'll forget any time soon.
{A Few Examples of Her Voice}
Initially some low singing, but she reaches into her upper register a bit later on.
Her tone is a bit more rounded here - her voice is still distinctive in both her upper and lower registers though.
