A thread for anything music-related that you personally found surprising or unexpected (even if the rest of the world already knew about it). This could include things like singers hitting unexpected notes, odd collaborations, hits that you thought were original songs but are actually cover versions, even album sleeve art by band members, or whatever - no particular rules here. Clare Torry, vocalist on Pink Floyd's The Great Gig in the Sky also sang Love Is Like a Butterfly as the opening theme for the TV series Butterflies I'd heard both of these many times without my brain ever making any connection between them. I just recently learned that F.R. David is the same age as my dad. He was already in his mid-thirties when he had a hit with Words but since I had no idea what he looked like at the time ( he actually looked about his age), I imagined him to be much younger. Here he is singing it at the age of 70 and I think his voice has aged a bit: he's gone from sounding like a man in his late teens to one in his twenties. I'm not sure what I expected from the opening track of the album that gave us A Spaceman Came Travelling, but this wasn't it:

Since there's really nowhere else to put this, there's a solid C6 at 9:02 in this video. {Spoiler}

{Spoiler} I certainly didn't expect Wagakki Band to team up with Amy Lee to cover Bring Me to Life using traditional Japanese instrumentation, but it's a surpringly interesting collab.
