Something about it makes it seem higher than an F6 towards the end of the note

You're close, I'd say it's closer to F6. Patton's done a lot of improvs, so I tend not to bother with them unless the note is really good or at the extreme ends of his range. Good find, though. Hah, if this was any other singer I'd say this was an E7. I'll keep this one in mind.
