{Vocal Analysis}Lemarchal has been categorised as a tenor, possessing a naturally light voice with a very bright fourth octave tone. Although he had shown on occasion the aptitude for a somewhat weightier technique (with his B♭4 in 'Con te Partirò' a good example), typically Lemarchal used a light, pop-oriented belting technique, which he was at least in studio able to carry up to D5 while still retaining impressive control. Although used fairly sparingly, he was also known for his ethereal falsetto register, showing the ability to sustain fifth octave notes such as in his version of 'SOS d'un terrien en détresse'. Lemarchal had little opportunity to explore his lower register during his career, bottoming at B♭2 and even sounding a little breathy at that, again suggesting he possessed a naturally high tessitura. Overall Lemarchal's was a pleasant and distinctive voice, and we can only muse at how he may have progressed as a vocalist had he not passed away so young.

Late French singer who rose to fame after winning series four of Star Academy, the first male singer to do so. Known for his ethereal angelic vocals, Lemarchal gained widespread popularity in his homeland whilst barely out of his teens. He released only a single album, Je deviens moi, during his own lifetime, followed by a live album in 2006 of his first solo tour. A sufferer of the hereditary disease cystic fibrosis throughout his life, Lemarchal passed away in 2007 aged just 23 whilst awaiting a lung transplant in hospital; a second album, La voix d'un ange, was posthomously released with its leading single De temps en temps reaching number one in the French charts.
