Matt was clearly singing a jazz chord.

Quoting (pretty much) I do not remember who: "The fact itself that the note has been discussed that much doesn't make it thread-worth it." Yeah, it was something like that lol Wise words, though that was me lmao, we’re arguing about a spoilered note that obviously will never be added to the actual thread

a bit of high notes: 1:22 rough C5, 2:30 A5 B♭5/B5? G♯5 I’m counting them all except for the Assassin B5. Do you reckon the C5 should be green because of how distorted it is or should I keep it italic to fit the thread better

Can we please finally come to the consensus that (virtually) every note above that B4 from "New Born" live at Leeds Festival (2011) must be colored blue? I comprehend the difficulty of distinguishing vocal registers M1 and M2 in following cases:
- when the singer in question is particularly skilled in connecting both registers by singing in the passaggio utilizing mixed voice/head voice, making the transition seamless - when the singer in question attacks the note in falsetto whilst adding distortion to it, giving the impression of it being more connected than it actually is
However, in the case of Matt, the cut off could hardly be any more clear! Matt is not, by any means, the sort of singer who applies foregoing techniques in his singing. That B4 was unique, but that really is the terminus as regards his modal register. He cannot support any higher belts with open throat. Just the pure, bright, piercing quality of his falsetto, should not be the fundamental cause of doubt concerning the classification (blue versus black) of those fifth octaves notes.
Unless a few notable examples of any control in the passaggio can be presented, I would like to defend his trademark, which is "falsetto singing", as a matter of fact.

Yeah but even if Matt developed perfect technique and a mixed voice, his 5th octave wails wouldn't sound much different. Very questionable statement. They're supported and projected just like any Halford or Plant wail would be. Not sure what you're saying here. No one is implying falsetto can't be super well-supported. Or are you saying they're supported in the same way as the high notes of those singers? The coloring isn't really about the vocal "cut off" these days, but more about how the note itself is sung. And in Matt's case, it's pretty obvious that this www.youtube.com/watch?t=249&v=Ek0SgwWmF9w&feature=youtu.be&ab_channel=Museis nowhere near this www.youtube.com/watch?t=65&v=BF1DQr5dKW8&feature=youtu.be&ab_channel=MuseIn terms how it's produced or how it sounds

New solo album out called Cryosleep, with a holy shit breathtaking acoustic version of Take a Bow. Love hearing Matt's voice, especially his belts, this clearly.
those belts are VERY clear, my only problem is that they’re drowned in autotune :( most things that Matt self produces has a load of pitch correction and it’s kinda jarring after listening to his pretty much unaltered voice on showbiz and OoS

How are we feelin' about dat new Muse song I think I kind of went into it with the wrong expectations, because I read on Wikipedia that it was "a return to the band's heavier sound", so I figured that meant something like Black Holes and Revelations or Drones era material, which were both albums that I really liked. Instead, it turned out to be like 21 Pilots/Imagine Dragons-style modern pop on the verses crossed with...almost metalcore-ish elements on the choruses and stuff? I have somewhat mixed feelings about it at the moment - there are some things that I think I like about it, but it also veers wayyy too much onto the metalcore side of things than I ever wanted to hear from Muse, particularly with that whole breakdown section from 3:02 to 3:20. I'll always respect their willingness to experiment and crossover into other genres, but certain ones may be better left untouched.

I cried a little bit when I heard it. Not the good tears. But the kind that get spilled when one of the bands that you grew up listening to drop a song that sounds like Imagine Dragons and Limp Bizkit kissing.
