{Vocal Summary}Perhaps one of the most hardworking and overlooked metal vocalists to ever come out of New Jersey, Alan Tecchio's soaring banshee-like wails have made appearances on many projects, most notably those of progressive thrash group Watchtower and the solo work of Symphony X bassist Mike Lepond. Tecchio's signature sound undoubtedly lies in his piercing high notes, delivered in a powerful head voice that can be something of an acquired taste, and indeed he seldom goes a song without venturing into the fifth octave at least once. However, he is capable of exhibiting a softer, more "human" side to his voice, a still somewhat raspy but more tasteful style that occasionally even makes it down into the second octave. This, as well as his surprisingly deep speaking voice, show that he is not as extremely high-placed of a vocalist as his many high screams might lead one to believe, but rather a regular tenor who tends to heavily favor his upper range. Now well into his fifties, his voice has showed little sign of appreciably deepening or aging at all- indeed, most of his highest notes were hit within the past decade- and given his healthy work ethic and involvement with multiple bands, it's all but certain that Tecchio will keep wailing away for years to come.
