Ron McKernan better known as his nickname "Pigpen" was the cofounder, organist and occasional percusionst from american band Grateful Dead since the beginning until his death at just 27 years old (It's considerate he belongs to "The 27 Club" too, altough not so famous as other musicians from that age as Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, etc)
Ron participed in the first seven albums from Grateful Dead, contribuing with keyboards and organs giving in good measure the psychedelic sound to the band.
He had a strong alcoholism life, he liked to drink whiskey and wine. Precisely he died at March 8th 1973 by a gastrointestinal bleeding caused by his constant alcohol consume.
