{Vocal Summary}Bass guitarist, high tenor singer, and primary songwriter/producer for The Beach Boys. The man responsible for the legendary Beach Boys sound, he commandeered the highest spot on the so-called "stack of vocals", and his trademark falsetto has been associated with the traditional "beach/car music sound" ever since. Possessed a voice that obviously was capable of soaring to great heights with falsetto, but could go well into the high fourth octave with chest as well, as evidenced on songs like "I Just Wasn't Made For These Times". Sadly, years of drug abuse and general misuse all but destroyed his voice in the mid-70's, although years of rehabilitation were able to salvage it into the somewhat raspy baritone we hear today. Luckily, Brian's genius remains intact; a genius that powered one of the greatest groups of their era, and maybe of all time.
