Drummer and backing vocalist for The Beach Boys. The middle of the Wilson brothers (younger than Brian, older than Carl), and probably the least talented from all standpoints, he nevertheless was an integral part in The Beach Boys sound. Started as the group's second tenor below Brian for the first few albums, then did various other harmonic parts as needed for the remaining years. In his early days, his voice was somewhat like a gruffer version of Carl's, but years of alcohol abuse and a motorcycle accident in the early 70's permanently damaged his voice to a husky rasp, as heard in the band's late 70's output and his own fantastic solo record, Pacific Ocean Blue. Yet throughout his entire career, the emotion that he was able to convey in his voice was absolutely outstanding. Certainly a man that was taken away from us far too soon.
If you have any other notes that I need to be aware of, don't hesitate to reply!
