Mainly known as the singer for 90s hard rock band Ugly Kid Joe, in addition to several other projects listed above. Crane's most recognizable trait is his distinct gritty rasp, sounding akin to Bon Scott or Jon Oliva depending on the song. Time has served fairly well for his voice, despite having experimented with several genres over the years (from the more comedic style of early UKJ to the much darker alt metal leanings of Medication to the very subdued acoustic vibe of Richards/Crane), he has shown many sides of his voice which he can still use in his regular arsenal, making good use of some powerful fifth octave belting (which he used moreso on early UKJ, but can still pull it off fairly well live even nowadays), a unique midrange which can go from fairly husky to quite light and relaxed (as heard in tracks such as "Cloudy Skies" and "Candle Song"). He definitely seems to possess quite a solid lower range as well, even if only a few examples use it really well below A2 (mainly in "Love Ain't True" and "Under Water"). A solid if often overlooked voice from the rather unsung early 90s hard rock era and beyond, Crane has shown himself to have a consistently strong voice and has shown no signs of slowing down or degrading anytime soon.
