Theo Katzman (born 2 Apr 1986)
Vocal Range: G♯2 - B5
Associated Acts: My Dear Disco (2007-2010), Vulfpeck (2011-present)
{Vocal Summary}As a core member of cult funk collective Vulfpeck, Theo Katzman has spent much of his career being better known for his talents on guitar and drums than his abilities as a singer; not only is much of Vulfpeck's material instrumental in nature, but many of their earlier vocal features focused on talented guest vocalist Antwaun Stanley, leaving Katzman in the background. However, in recent years his prodigious abilities as a singer-songwriter have made themselves more apparent, both in his solo material and in his increasing vocal presence in the band's later work. He has improved greatly as a singer in the past decade as well; starting out as an ordinary-sounding tenor with a somewhat extensive falsetto register, he has developed his high notes to the point where he can wail out reasonably connected-sounding highs throughout the fifth octave with ease, in addition to pushing his falsetto to its limits. His voice is a decidedly light and high-placed one, though, and he has shown little evident interest in developing his anemic lower register outside of a few ballads. Still, in contrast to his powerful upper register, he is readily able to make even a soft, breathy E3 sound like a convincingly "low" note, and has overall grown into a surprisingly skilled funk/rock tenor for someone who largely made his name as part of an instrumental funk rhythm section.
