The frontman for Styx from the early '70s to the late '90s, one would argue that Dennis DeYoung was the most technically proficient instrumentalist of the band as well as the most prolific songwriting-wise. From a vocal standpoint, though oftentimes he favored lower harmonies in Styx songs, he was still more than capable in the fifth octave and also posessed a strong, albeit underused lower register.
