Lead singer and guitarist for English black/death/prog metallers Akercocke. As they are one of my favorite recent extreme metal discoveries, I figured it is only appropriate to make a thread for their most erudite frontman. Possessing a pleasantly smooth and at times gothic sounding baritone voice, Jason adds a strong dose of melody and atmosphere to Akercocke's often chaotic music. He frequently alternates between incredibly demonic gutturals and ear piercing black metal shrieks, only to suddenly jump to a mournful mid ranged clean vocal section. While his purely clean approach is rarely taken particularly high, he also has a tremendous gritty belting register that he's taken to some surprising heights (see his non green B♭4-C5 notes as examples). Though he does possess a fairly dark timbre, it is perhaps obvious from this OP that his low range is somewhat underused. He actually sounds like he's reaching fairly low in his voice on his C3s, yet his lower 2nd octave spoken sections show that he has the potential to carry that tone quite a bit deeper should he choose to. Undoubtedly a unique vocalist for a fittingly unique band.
