It was a response to Southern Man, not Rockin in the Free World.

It was a response to Southern Man, not Rockin in the Free World. while I stand corrected, it still doesn't change the issue I with it, Southern Man is a song about racism, the souths history with it and how it still exists (at least to some extent) in south but Lynyrd never addresses anything that's in the song or why they disagree with the it, its mainly just generic southern pride lyrics.

"In Birmingham they love the governor (boo!)" and some other lines hint at the irony implicit throughout the song (intimating not all southerners are racist, oh btw how do you feel about Watergate?) Then again Ed King says the song is pro-racism, so who knows. Annoying song either way.

Freddie Mercury wishes he could’ve written something as anthemic as “Song of the South” by Alabama

I have a few: - The early Beatles music is better than their later stuff. - Harry Nilsson's music improved after he lost his voice in 1974. - John Lennon was the most handsome Beatle. - The best music was from the 1930's.

Agree with the first
From me is that the Stones with Taylor are overrated, sounds generic and repetitive, every 2nd song sounds the same and they've been the best with Jones still conscious

Some more unpopular opinions: - Queen is very overrated. - David Bowie is even more overrated. - George Michael has a decent voice, but most of his songs are mediocre. - Michael Jackson is overrated. - Prince is very overrated. - Ringo Starr is underrated as a solo artist. - J. D. Sumner deserves more recognition.

Wow, lots of negativity in this comment thread. That's not good for the soul. Does anybody have a positive opinion they could add to the conversation?
I can start, I guess: I think we're living in the greatest era of musical creativity that we've ever known, and as long as your mind hasn't closed itself off, you can find vast quantities of music that you'll like, and quite a bit that you'll love. Some of my favorite albums of all-time have been from the last five years or so, and the pandemic era alone has produced some sensational music, whether it's thematically related to the times or not.
So honestly, no, I personally have never thought I was "born in the wrong generation" - on the contrary, sometimes I wish the universe had waited even just a little bit longer to welcome me into it, so I could experience the tiniest amount more of this wondrous thing we call musical evolution.

A Day At The Races is better than A Night At the Opera (and this is true) I absolutely agree with this. I'll try to think of a few personal unpopular music opinions: – Bernie Taupin is not that good of a lyricist, I think he's solid and his Tumbleweed Connection lyrics are top-notch, however later works fall into many songwriting clichés that can become almost cringeworthy in a few songs (like when he divorced and started making typical "divorcée" songs that just sound really dull). – As fantastic of a songwriter as Kate Bush is, I think her lyrics could be even better if she didn't sung SO much about men. I wanna hear more about you, Kate. – Laura Nyro is obscenely underrated as a songwriter, she's one of the greatest of all time imo.

As much as I love "Blue", it's weird that there's a Christmas song on it.
