{Vocal Summary}Legendary vocalist for The Misfits, Samhain and his solo band Danzig. Known as one of the most powerful fourth octave belters in rock & metal, Danzig has proven quite influential in the scene both for his dark imagery as well as his mighty resonant voice. A combination of Elvis style crooning and Jim Morrison-esque roaring (albeit in a fairly more refined and melodic fashion), Danzig surely hasn't been shy about showing off his influences while also adapting them into his own unique & darker leanings that suits his occult-esque style (both musically and artistically). While his bombastic bellowing is the most prominent feature of his voice, his warmer/softer mid to lower range is not to be understated either, as tracks as "Ashes", "Sistinas" and "Blood and Tears" show a much more sensitive and delicate side in contrast. His lowest notes however can sometimes be inconsistent, often times sounding fairly whispy while also still being capable of some surprisingly boomy moments as well (such as in "The Darkest Sun"). While his powerful belts have somewhat taken on a toll on his voice (a noticeable "cookie monster" esque technique change started to take place around '93/94) and his onstage performances can be rather erratic, Danzig has still managed to retain most of his tone and power in his 30+ year career, a definite favourite of mine and it's great to see him still around today in fairly strong form.
