Super messy thread as of now; I know! Going to fix up formatting and do more note-watching in the coming days. J-Hope has a lot of belted moments when he sings, so I thought I wouldn't have many lows, but I underestimated him... there were so many rich lows that I heard in my preliminary research that I just had to bold.

Wow, thanks for this notewatching! I did actually notewatch Outro: Ego, but I didn't pick up on the harmonized G4s, just all the E4s. I'll add that. I did already list G2s from the background, so I won't list the C3s as well. The falsetto notes sound like they're from a female backing vocalist. I usually avoid listing notes from high note challenges, random clips, etc. in the proper main range, but that F5 is actually pretty good lol! I saw it in a compilation, but couldn't find the original video to link, so thanks! I will definitely include it in some way.

At the time, I really was super particular about only showing truly sung moments in songs, etc. but now that J-Hope is going to release a solo album (and also because he's no longer "just" a rapper within the context of BTS), I want to include absolutely everything. RM and Suga might get some updates too.

Hi HKSK Vox Researcher,
Did you ever evaluate j-hope's vocals after the Jack in the Box release? I'm writing something on his vocal abilities and it would be helpful to get other perspectives. Thanks!

Hi HKSK Vox Researcher, Did you ever evaluate j-hope's vocals after the Jack in the Box release? I'm writing something on his vocal abilities and it would be helpful to get other perspectives. Thanks! Hello! A long time ago, when that came out, I actually did listen through and pick out a good amount of the notes. I think I wrote them down, but I didn't bother entering them in the list. Similarly, RM and Suga / Agust D's threads have been neglected. The reason for this is because when I started the thread, I made the decision to not ever count the pitch of their rapping, and only focus on including notes that were definitely melodically sung. This ended up being an odd choice, though, because I remember J-Hope was rapping notably low on a song on Jack in the Box (E2 or below), but in terms of what he sang, there was still only F#2 on that album, so I had to ignore it. By the way, for Suga, since he didn't sing a lot, his lowest sang note was around G2 on the thread, which was ridiculous, because of course he can reach much, much lower. (I heard him sing an E2 later, but did not come back to update it.) As you can see, my choice to do things this way was a bit odd, so I started to leave the threads alone, thinking they weren't as useful as my threads for non-rappers. J-Hope can also sing much higher than B4 in falsetto, which has been demonstrated in various clips outside of recorded songs. If you look at the bottom of the thread under "Omitted Notes", I included an F5 that seems like he could really sing! We just haven't heard him do it on actual recorded songs. However, I can say that I've heard him do falsetto C#5s in various live performances of Dynamite! I excluded a lot of these various clips because at the time, my philosophy was that I wanted to only show what he used in songs in a melodic way. If you want to hear J-Hope's actual, literal highest note, here's a recording of him trying to yell high. He reaches C#6, but I wouldn't count it towards his actual musical range, because he sounds like a dying animal. LOL So, I'd say that his range is still F#2 - G#4 like this thread says, and then F5 in falsetto, all with the footnote: "He doesn't sing a lot, so we don't know his full range. This is just what we've seen him use well." He can definitely do more with his voice; we just don't hear it a lot since he's a rapper. If you need more help with any of the other members, let me know! I know that Jimin's lower register was used a lot more than usual on his EP, and he had great G2s.

I might clean up the threads for all the rappers and add those last few new notes just so it's not abandoned and it's a little more accurate.
