Mafumafu (まふまふ, born October 18, 1991) Vocal range: F#2 - E♭6 - C7 (4 and a half octaves)
NOTE: As of November 16, 2022, this thread is not regularly updated. It is also incomplete, in that it does not cover his entire discography. Some high whistle notes as listed on this thread may actually be an octave above, placing his high range at C8 and not C7. See this video (not by me) for a different collection of range research. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ms0vtm5Du4MSignificant Highs:
C7 (" Hanged Girl in the Haunted House") A6 (" Mafumafu's Q&A Corner") G#6 (" Umareta Imi Nado Nakatta") E6 (" Nibyoukan") E♭6 (" ECHO") D6 (" Getting Faster and Faster", " Umareta Imi Nado Nakatta") C#6 (" Nibyoukan") C6 ("Alien Alien", "Dareka no Shinzou ni Naretanara", " Goodbye Declaration", " Mao") B5 (" Alien Alien", " Dareka no Shinzou ni Naretanara", "The Disease Called Love", " ECHO", " Reincarnation", " Self-Inflicted Achromatic") B♭5 (" Endpoint", "Sacrifice", " Self-Inflicted Achromatic") A5 ("Alien Alien", "Handicap", "I Want to Be a Super Nuko", "Nibyoukan", " Sore wo Ai to Yobu dake", "Terminating the World", " Umareta Imi Nado Nakatta") G#5 ("Berserk", "ECHO", "GHOST", " Goodbye Declaration", "Jailbreak", " Nibyoukan", " Role-Playing Game") G5 ("Dream Within a Dream", "Handicap", " Hated by life itself", " Hanged Girl in the Haunted House", "Hitomodoki", " Reincarnation", " Sacrifice", " Saezuri", " Terminating the World") F#5 ("Android Girl", " Berserk", " The Disease Called Love", " ECHO", "I Wanna Be a Normie", "KING", "Punishment Game", "Sore wo Ai to Yobu dake", "Umareta Imi Nado Nakatta") F5 ("Choco-tto no Kotae", "Goodbye Declaration", "Kaibutsu", "No Trespassing") E5 ("Android Girl", "GHOST", "Hitomodoki", "Hyakki Yagyou", "I Want to Be a Super Nuko", "Manjushage", " Matryoshka", "Wasn't able to become a Super Cat", "World-Sick Boys and Girls") D#5 ("ECHO", " Hazy Moon", "Kaibutsu", "KING", "Ussee wa", "Yuurei") D5 ("Hyakki Yagyou", "I wanna be a girl", "Turing Love") C#5 (" Pretender", "Ussee wa") C5 ("Kyouka Suigetsu", "Pretender") Significant Lows:G3 ("Dream Within a Dream", "Handicap", "KING", "Neko ga marukunatta", " No Trespassing", "Yuurei") F#3 ("ECHO", "Kaibutsu", "Self-Inflicted Achromatic") F3 ("Hazy Moon", "Manjushage", "Pretender", "Wasn't able to become a Super Cat") E3 ("Role-Playing Game", " Umareta Imi Nado Nakatta") E♭3 (" Hitomodoki", " I wanna be a girl", " Jailbreak", "World-Sick Boys and Girls") D3 ("The Disease Called Love", "Nibyoukan", "Punishment Game", " Reincarnation", "Turing Love") C#3 ("Hanged Girl in the Haunted House", " Matryoshka") B♭2 (" Endpoint", " Getting Faster and Faster", " Manjushage") A2 (" Kyouka Suigetsu", " Saezuri") F#2 (" Deathly Loneliness Attacks", "Orange") ---------------------------------------Blue marks falsetto or whistle notes. Boldface marks particularly impressive notes. Underlines mark notes that are in the background (harmonies, octave unisons, etc.) Italics mark notes sang without intentional particular musical pitch (spoken, rapped, exclaimed, etc.)
Please note that the entirety of Mafumafu's discography has not been checked for this thread, and so some well-known impressive notes may not be present as bolds, although the farthest extremities in range are certain. Although there is no plan to continue research at any large scale for the time being, if you would like to see more vital notes added, please post in the thread and I will evaluate and input the data.

Updated this thread with some more notewatching! It's not a main focus for me right now, but this thread will be updated like this in the future very slowly until most of his major discography and covers have been gone through. Also, here's a C6 that I hesitated to bold because everyone would call it edited: youtu.be/N1jE3PSnVvY?t=157Enjoy!

I haven't touched this thread in a while, but I discovered that this thread comes quite high up in search results for "mafumafu's vocal range", etc. and so I thought that I should return to add F#2s that Mafumafu has reached. The Orange F#2 is more notable than the backing vocal F#2, but it is physical album-only.
Mafumafu has retired now, and his discography is so immense that notewatching all of it is quite a task, but with this, the extremities have definitely all been found, as corroborated by other's research in range videos, etc. A few Japanese posters claim he has whistles up to C8, but I viewed all the examples as overtones of notes the octave below, topping off at C7.
I may add a few more notable notes in the future, such as the Eb6 mix from Kurai Madoromi no Yobu Hou e, but this thread is not a priority. If anyone else has research on Mafumafu they'd like to share, please let me know and I will try adding.

Yes, it is indeed a C8 for that highest note (using the denotion that C4 is the piano's middle C , which I'd assume you're using when you say that mixed voice note is an E flat 6). (Link: youtu.be/ms0vtm5Du4M)I think I'm able to tell, with my perfect pitch (I matched the octave), that the C8 was sung legit in his whistle register, rather than the overtone of a C7. There are some other amendments for your post, but regardless of them, thank you for your work!

There are some other amendments for your post, but regardless of them, thank you for your work! I remember when I made this thread that I was dubious of any high seventh octave things because they're mostly exclamations and I thought there would be a really big unreasonable gap, but I can hear that they could be up there! This site is really picky about overtone things and so I didn't want to push it. Even if it sounds like C8, they'll be like, "did he really hit it truly in that way, or is he just singing C7 but it comes out that piercing?", and the latter happens with mafu a lot even on high mixed voice. Like, there's a few B5s he has where I would almost say that there's a B6 whistle octave unison in the back because it sounds so piercing... to the point that I thought he actually did... I just didn't know what to do lol. I've seen a couple of those Japanese range videos and agree with most of their research (with the exception of a couple silly inclusions that wouldn't fly here), but yeah, I think mafumafu is pretty much documented now! I'm likely never going through his whole discography because it's so vast and already explored by others, so this thread is basically a cancelled project, sorry! In the meantime, you can check out my main thread on fellow utaite Reol, which is complete with her whole catalogue and regularly updated. Welcome to the site!
