Songs That Sound Better Sped Up (2,866 views)

I discovered a while back some songs that sound remarkably natural, better even, when sped up on YouTube by about 1.25x or 1.5x.



This song is tedious in its original form, but speeding it up by 1.5x makes it actually slap. Sure it gets a bit muddy in places, but I can imagine a re-recording of it at 1.5x speed working really well.



Sounds like a legit old school Dire Straits track in 1.5x speed. Probably the most powerful case of this that I've ever come across; the sped up version is the definitive version, you can't convince me otherwise.

Razorfist called this one, and even though he is the master of not-so-good hot-takes, "Stratego" becomes the best song on "Senjutsu" by a distance at x1.25 speed (it was one of the only genuinely good songs on that album anyhow). Although I'm not sure how Niko could have been expected to do that with a single kick pedal, so the lower tempo makes sense from a performance point of view.

This song is already quite good, but the vocals sound kind of weird. It's almost like a slowed-down version of itself. 1.25x speed makes the vocal sound more natural. The trade-off here is that some of the dynamics sound off in the sped-up version.

This song is fine, but it doesn't have the bounce you would expect out of a Sisters song. Once you put this shit on 1.25x speed, you don't go BACK to the trudge that was the original. It straight up doesn't sound right.



Definitely a banger, but 1.25x turns it into a pop punk anthem and honestly kicks so much more ass this way.

Ooh I've played around with stuff like this before, though it's usually been making my only tempo remixes of them rather than the increments that YouTube will allow.


The original version of this has always sounded a bit too slow to my ears, but I nudged it up just a bit (less than 25%) and got it to where it sounds just right:
