Yep, I'm making my own singing thread. What can I say, singing's fun (and for me, it's probably a manifestation of my isolated stress and depression). I'm testing my uploading format firstly with this loose-ish cover I made of Birthday Song by Jon Lajoie. Hopefully it works for y'all: sndup.net/2486

Did you play the instruments as well? It sounded organic as if you did, even if you didn't. Nice voice, sounds like it could fit nicely into an indie-rock band. Reminded me of Win Butler Thanks! I played the guitar on "Birthday Song", but the rest of the instrumentals were not by me. I put some time into adjusting the mix for the vocals to sound as authentic as they could. I am looking forward to making original music at some point, probably synthpop styled. I might try different things out.

Two vox covers I found from about 2 years ago. Thought I'd share them before I start recording original material (whenever that is): - Crying by Roy Orbison sndup.net/sszy- Should Be Higher by Depeche Mode sndup.net/pppkNot really feeling like recording new vocal covers (personal preference), though I think I'll give a new stab at Selfless by The Strokes soon because it's very fun to sing for me and I feel like I can do it better now

Thanks, appreciate the feedback. Good to hear that my voice is expressive; I remember projection being a hurdle for me a few years ago. I'm working on controlling my wobble vois a bit, though it sort of feels like second nature stylistically at this point. Might be a matter of applying wobble (and vibrato) at the right moment, but that's just me

Might be a matter of applying wobble (and vibrato) at the right moment, but that's just me It kind of works around the note that I mentioned, but it's too much all over the place elsewhere. It doesn't quite work the way it did with Bob Dylan at his best, or to some degree Dean Martin. A simple way of doing it would be to try to sing really cleanly as an exercise, so that you have that ability as a foundation. You could try singing in harmonies, either along with someone else or just along with something clean sounding. That makes it easier to hear if and where you're off.

Nice Orbison cover, wealthy voice. Here's to you to start writing your own material, it's a great feeling. Doing so myself
