{Vocal Summary}Falco should not be able to sing as well as he does. He clearly doesn't try and, as is evidenced by Mclusky's entire catalogue, has never given a rats ass about vocal technique. His screams sound like the combined forces of Frank Black and Billy Corgan shitting themselves as they go down a somewhat exhilarating waterslide together, his falsetto sounds exactly like the awkward voice-breaky stages of puberty we all experience and his regular singing voice can't even decide if it wants to be a slightly aggressive shout or an actual note. Yet somehow, between all of this, Falco seems to know exactly where his strengths shine and manages to pull off some of the most entertaining and energetic performances ever. Due to employing so many different and strange techniques in his singing, he seems to find infinite amounts of personality in it and not once does he feel the need to prove himself. Except he just... does. He's managed to show strength in his more distorted and wild high 4th and low 5th octave belts as well as a solid, brooding lower register - both with just as much ease. His manic and eccentric performances are often a lot more impressively and effortlessly pulled off than you'd expect from someone of this guy's calibre, especially on Future of the Left projects. Despite not giving a fuck, he manages to prove himself anyway and become one of the most instantly recognisable and fun smartass voices in underground rock circles.

hello i am making a mclusky appreciation post

just been to a mclusky concert and it was so fucking great i think it's a must-attend for most people. not only is falkous' crowd banter unmatched (also his crowd-bouncing philosophical witterings including asking if all of Trent Reznor's musical power is generated by his neck) but he SOUNDS FUCKING BRILLIANT. the mixing for EVERYTHING is so loud and distorted and crispy but falco, at age 48, is still screeching his ass off and snarling like a recently unchained pitbull with human intelligence. props to damien sayell as well for not only calling perth shit but providing PERFECT co-lead screeches that genuinely made me think he was getting possessed. he's also kinda hot.

so yeah put going to a mclusky concert on your bucket list now!!!!
