Tommy Giles Rogers, Jr. is the lead vocalist and keyboardist of the north american progressive metal band Between the Buried and Me. Tommy is mostly known for switching between frightening, aggressive harsh vocals and his angelic, mellow tenor voice, as well as his usage of densely layered vocal harmonies (which has increased in recent years and can be heard at its best expression on the Parallax II album). He started as a screamer only (and as shown on BTBAM's self-titled album, his screams and growls were extremely forced and awkward sounding) but eventually he improved a lot both on his harsh and on clean vocals department - the latter whose he started using on their second album, The Silent Circus. While his clean voice lowered a bit as he aged, his voice retained a mellow, clear and boy-ish tone, but in recent years he also developed a solid low register he can extend down to interesting depths (actually the low notes section is bigger than the highs one, which is certainly unusual for a tenor!).

Not sure to be honest, sounds rather wimpy and somewhat flat lol He might have more boldable notes (I really like the "The Proverbial Below F♯2s for instance, maybe the "Blot" B4 might go too) so if you guys feel like more stuff by him is worth bolding, you're free to say! I consider the stuff I put in his range video his most notable notes, but if you guys know anything else I didn't put there and you consider to be good, feel free to bring them up too!. I'll probably remake it by the end of the year (until I got a better internet connection I never bothered with video quality, but now I'm actually able to watch videos with better resolutions I'm pretty unhappy with the way my videos ended up as 480p but I don't have the project file on Sony Vegas so I'll have to start from scratch in order to render them in a better quality).

@blot I'm leaning towards the B1 being an Illusion (and so did Platypus). I get the impression that those are B2s and there's another vocal track with just vocal fry cackle underneath it. Those are right at the beginning if everyone else wants to give it a listen.

I might add those to the Questionable Notes though, I wasn't a fan of the idea back when I remade the thread (I'm still not a fan though :P ) so I didn't even bothered with it at the time. I added what I could remember from the top of my mind so I ended up forgetting a lot of stuff.

I can kinda hear how the Blot clip might be suspicious but I'd be interested in hearing more perspectives because I still make out some 1st octave tone in that, though it's probably more of a controlled fry note if that makes any sense. Also, I'd bold the D2 from Millions and possibly the E2 from Weather Mood/Panic Start personally. In general I feel like he must have more bolds but last I was listening to his stuff I wasn't really focusing on that so I'll have to check again.

Recently Tommy did a guest appearance on this song from a documentary called We Stand Corrected: Dannemora. I'm not exactly sure what the song is about, but it's pretty nice and it has a pretty good vocal performance from him. There are some brief but scarily solid singing down to Eb2 on the backing vocals (0:53 and 2:50, totally worth bolding imo) and some neat Bb4s on the chorus. There are some backing vocal B4s through it as well

Dayuum those might be the best lows I've heard from Tommy, though it would've been nice if they were lead vocal but either way you can tell he's really been working that low range of his lately.

Added the notes from BTBAM's Colors II. Spanning E2-G5 is his rangiest album so far! It still plays rather safe most of the time as most high singing centers around A4-B4 on lead vocals (the G5 is an odd background slide Tommy sings for no reason lol), but the low singing is again the highlight with some very cool stuff (namely the E2 stacatto bits in "The Future is Behind Us" and the "Age Defeats, Age Defiles..." part in "Revolution in Limbo"). The harsh vocals are probably the biggest surprise because they sound really aggressive and intense, specially compared to what he was doing since Coma Ecliptic (which sounds okay, but most of the time his screams sound rather flat and punchless but that might had to do with the production as well).

The album itself was a pretty hard listen since it harkens back hard at the very unpredictable and chaotic songwriting style of the original Colors album which I'm not exactly fond of (I often lose my interest in the songs midway because they go through countless short sections and the songs lose their cohesiveness) but it has its moments. The production is flawless though, all instruments sounds absolutely perfect, I'm absolutely in love with the guitar tones!

What I like about him is that he can go through almost throat-shredding growls/screams and then sound so clean when singing in a few seconds. While not the best singer, he can still sound similar to the recording, one of the few vocalists to always sound consistent
