Fred Schneider is the frontman of the '70s new wave group The B-52's. Though he had limited music experience, his characterful vocals, kitschy lyrics and camp, over-the-top stage presence brought both himself and the group to the front of new wave movement in the late 20th century. Fred's vocal approach is rather accurately described as 'loosely melodic' - while Kate and Cyndi sung in often rather melodic harmony, Fred's vocal performances were by comparison much more erratic, consisting largely of shouty higher notes, borderline spoken dips into his lower register and spontaneous jumps into a loosely controlled falsetto. It was never Fred's vocal prowess that endeared him to fans, however, it was ability to perform a song in a completely unique and unabashed manner that was so distinctly him that brought him, the group and the entire new wave genre masses of popularity.
{A Few Examples of His Voice}
An obvious performance, but it's chosen for good reason - solid low notes throughout, confident chest-y high notes and both of his extremities in traditional Fred non-melodic fashion.
Fred's a tenor, but he has a pretty solid lower register (and a pretty surprising upper one).
Kate's clearly a more orthodox singer, but Fred's voice here is surprisingly decent (and spans three octaves!).

{Questionable Notes}
D2 ("Dreamland"[1])
C2 ("(Underpants) in the Rain"[2])
B1 ("Totally Nude Island"[2])

1. Questionable identity/legitimacy.
2. Questionable fryish low notes.
...................................................................
Questionable notes are any notes of questionable significance. In short, this spoiler acknowledges notes that I am aware exist, but do not want to contribute to the singer's range. These involve (but are not limited to) notes of questionable identity, notes of questionable legitimacy and notes of significantly poor quality.
