{Description}
Fronting the acclaimed experimental pop band Japanese Breakfast, Michelle Zauner's vocals are an essential part of the group's hazy and lo-fi yet pristine and glossy sound. She possesses a high-placed voice with a bright soprano timbre that provides ease in her upper register. With that said, Zauner seldom hits notes above D5, as she stays comfortably around the upper 4th octave and lower 5th octave with a full yet light sounding tone and some solid belted notes around that area. Among her best high moments are the emotive D5s in "Jane Cum", easy sustained C♯5s on "Road Head" and, most notably, strong belting up to E5 in "Paprika". Her approach has become more refined from album to album, having a more raw, scattershot delivery in her previous group, Little Big League. Zauner also makes consistent use of her lower register in the upper to middle 3rd octave. Considering her high vocal placement, she's displayed decent tone and weight down to E3, altogether making for a dynamic and natural yet pleasant and ethereal sounding voice.
