Madeleine Hyland
Vocal Range: B♭2 - B5
Associated Acts: The Amazing Devil (2015 - present)
{Vocal Summary}As a co-lead vocalist in alt-folk band The Amazing Devil, Madeleine Hyland's main role is to provide a flightier, more fey-sounding counterpart to Joey Batey's grounded belting. Interestingly enough, this does not always equate to always singing the higher harmonies; while her upper register is light and fairly extensive (particularly in the backing choirs she adds to some songs), much of the time she sings in the same register as Batey does, or even below. She largely bases her harmony lines on providing echoes and counterpoint with some surprisingly solid lows, though they do have a similar issue to Batey's in being more whisper than note past a certain point. When singing her own solo lines, she can certainly belt out some powerful notes of her own, though most of her climactic moments tend to center around C5 despite that note being well below her ceiling. On the whole, though, her tone is light enough that delineating the exact boundaries of her head voice would be rather difficult, as she often goes from soft, airy lows to soft, airy highs without an audible breaking point. A lovely voice on the whole, whose presence is indispensable to The Amazing Devil's unique dynamic.
