Brian Harold May (19 July 1947 - present)
Member Of: Smile (1968 - 1970), Queen (1970 - present)
Vocal Range: F2 - G5
{Vocal Summary}Brian May was easily the most understated of Queen's three vocalists, but you could do much worse than playing third-fiddle to two of the greatest singers of their era. May's vocals never really emerged into their fullest form until his solo career in the 1990s, however. A lower-placed tenor compared to his bandmates, his voice has gained power and conviction over the years, to the point where his late '90s recordings feature vocal performances that even Freddie Mercury would have batted an eye at. Oh, come now, Freddie fanboys. You can't tell me with a straight face that Freddie wouldn't have had some difficulty performing "Resurrection" or "Slow Down" with as much guttural force as Brian musters. And don't even get me started on "Too Much Love Will Kill You".
