Summary:
Derek Sanders, as the lead vocalist for Mayday Parade, has been an essential part of the pop punk and "emo" scenes since the band's debut album A Lesson In Romantics. Since ex co-vocalist Jason Lancaster's departure in 2007 Sanders has been the sole frontman for the band, though he shares vocal duties with a couple of other members of the band very frequently.
Sanders’ vocal style has stayed very consistent over the years, regularly going up fairly high into the fourth octave and heavily favouring chest voice over falsetto. His lower range is comparably rarer than his upper range, though he still does use it relatively often. With Mayday Parade, he has become a staple part of the pop punk and "emo" scenes, and it doesn't seem like he's going away anytime soon.
