Blue marks falsetto notes.
Underlines mark notes obscured in the mix.
Italics mark non-melodic notes.
Bold marks particularly notable examples of this person's vocal capabilities.
Green marks distorted/screamed notes.
Due to the similarity of Joel and his identical twin brother Benji's voices, along with the fact that both are credited with vocals on basically any release they are on, pretty much any backing vocals have not been counted, with only the most ambiguous making it into questionable notes.
Summary:
Joel Madden's vocals for Good Charlotte have helped them become one of the most popular bands of the emo/pop punk scene. Alongside his work with the aforementioned band, he has made a fair few ventures into other genres, perhaps most notably hip-hop with his multiple guest appearances and The Madden Brothers' mixtape Before — Volume One.
Madden’s vocal style earlier on in his career was very much based around a mid-range approach, with his high range making more appearances as time goes on. Nowadays he uses both his mid and upper range an equal amount. His lower range tends to be somewhat rarer, with melodies that reach into the second octave being few and far between. He also has a pleasant falsetto that he uses occasionally. In a scene full of many bands and many voices, Madden's is one that stood out among the crowd, and has lasted to the present day. An arguably overlooked voice, he is certainly a very capable vocalist, and one that has only got better with time.

[1] marks yelps and short trills in high range or anacrusis and short dips in low range.
[2] marks notes of questionable identity that cannot be confirmed to the singer in question.
[3] marks notes that don't have a significant enough pitch to warrant inclusion.
[4] marks notes that posses uncertain pitch or have been pitch-shifted.
[5] marks notes that do not fit the previous criteria but are not of a substantial enough quality to warrant counting towards the singer's range.
As well as the notes mentioned here, there are lots of backing vocals that are of ambiguous identity due to Joel and his identical twin brother Benji having very similar voices. The notes I have put here under [2] are the cases where I think it's likely that it could be Joel rather than Benji but I can't be sure.
